Domestic violence crosses a red line when it comes to signing a player. I'm not saying he should be banned from playing RL, just that I wouldn't want a club I supported to sign him.
The club will immediately attract a lot of negative attention if they sign him and any time they try to do any community initiative or particularly stuff about 'promoting the family atmosphere' or 'encouraging more women to play/watch RL', you can bet this will get thrown in their face.
But maybe it would fit with Karl Fitzpatrick's 'orchestra pit' theory. It will attract publicity that will get the club talked about.
I agree with your comment on the differences. To counter the second part of your post - I don't think we are looking for squeaky clean role models for the club. I mean one of our legends had oral sex with a dog. What sort of message did that convey?
