Bit OT aren't we? These questions are answered generally according to the age of the respondent, as with all 'popular music' opinions. I just wanted to say that the above selection is the odd one out, being composed of ( (however good) what are essentially 'choirs'. I never understood how a bunch of singers - whatever their talent - can be described as a 'band'. Bands are: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Rory Gallagher Band, Dr Feelgood, Spin Doctors etc etc who play instruments and sing.

Of the bands I have seen live...

David Lee Roth / Van Halen
AC/DC
Prince (can't stand the guy, but had a freebie to see him at Wembley in the early 90's and he was awesome live)
Aerosmith
Kiss

Special mentions for Status Quo (in 1982 they were the first band I ever saw, and were amazing), Foo Fighters (had the offer of a Wembley ticket last year and turned it down, but at least I got the DVD for Christmas) and Madness (the Mrs's favourite, took her a couple of times and despite all expectations I really enjoyed them).

Apart from being historically the inventor of the seed drill, the band named after this gentleman (see www.jethrotull.com) started in 1968 and still goes strong to this day after more than twenty albums and numerous chart hits ( mainly albums, but the odd single in the 1970s like 'The Witches promise' ). They won 'best hard rock album' ( much to their surprise, beating Metallica ) at the Grammies in 1989. I recently saw them on their latest world tour in Delhi, India.
That enough ID for JT?
