My understanding on this is:

-If a game is a sell-out, the attendance that is reported is the ground capacity;
-If the game is not a sell-out, the attendance is the no. of people in the ground.

Not sure why we do it this way, will find out for you if you like.

I think they count all season ticket holders to have attended, then add the number of non season ticket holders attending the game to get the attendance. This, I believe, is so the season ticket revenue is attributed correctly each month for accounting purposes.

i.e) earned revenue for season tickets each month will apply as 1/14 of total season ticket revenue for each home game in the month.

I was told that Warrington are one of the few clubs in SL who DON'T count season ticket holders as being always in attendance. Many others do.

Union is played by people who close airports after a bit of snow, League is played by people who would go and have a snowball fight with a 747

That was my understanding aswell. I remember a recent game which was a "sell out", but the attendance was reported as a couple of hundred below capacity.

I'd agree with SEB on this one, been to a game that was "sold out" attendance announced as 13,024, yet one of group, season ticket holder, didn't come nor did they sell there ticket.

we could quite possibly see just as many wigan fans as wire fans for this one.

many wire fans have walked away, i believe we only have 4-5k season ticket holders. Walk up fans will probably amount to 2-3k as its on telly and the weather forecast is poor.

wigan on the other hand, well their tails are up after beating saints and they will be travelling in numbers, expect at least 5k.
Not a cat in hell's chance.

We have had over 7,800 for games against Celtic and Catalans, and most people see this game as one of th biggest of the year, so I would easily expect 9k Wire fans, meaning up to 4k Wigan, that's if we even give them that many tickets, so there is no chance whatsoever of there being as many Wigan fans as Wire fans there.

We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky
And we're always the last when the cream is shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

Better than our Sheffield Wednesday songs, though, in fairness

I know it isn't (I have been to several 13,024 games where there have been empty seats near to me), but the attendance should always be the actual number of people in the ground. IF, god forbid, there was a serious incident at the ground, then the emergency services would want to know exactly how many people were in the ground, not how many season ticket holders we have and/or how many tickets we sold.

I believe it was in full swing around 21:20 last night, the "Piggy out" bandwagon started about 40 minutes before.
