One things for certain... I wouldn't be keen on him coming back. That's not based on anything other than the fact that I don't think he offers enough as a scrum half. With that in mind... anybody think he'd make a better stand-off ?
Don't think it matters either way as long as you have one playmaker type halfback and one running halfback. You can't have two of the same type. I wouldn't pair McGuire with Myler.
Remember with Myler he is going through the obligatory second stage of a new British player coming through
stage 1 - talented player emerges, fans of his club brag about how great he is, Eddie starts talking about him as the future of rugby league
stage 2 - gets described as most overrated player in the league
stage 3 - either fades away or gets respect
Danny McGuire had this, remember for a while Noble was getting slagged off for not picking him for Great Britain, we would have beaten the Aussies if we had McGuire at stand off instead of Harris and so on. Then everybody started saying McGuire was a one trick pony all he had was pace and nothing else. Now he has got respect again.
Ben Westwood had this as well, he was "the next Keith Senior" and Warrington signed him, then he became Ben Deadwood, now everybody likes him.
I reckon after the Four Nations this year when we lose to the Aussies, Sam Tomkins will take the mantle of most overrated player in the league.
