Hiku? he played 10 games or so mostly against the poorest opposition we could have played against? He looked decent but king is better, Hiku gets a fanfare that he didn't earn or deserve IMO, King however doesn't get the recognition (or the contract) that he deserves.
I want him to stay and hope he does, but you can't blame him for wanting to see what offers come in etc to get himself the best deal possible. If he's asking for a mega wage then let him leave, Mamo can play centre and is brilliant at the moment, and if Matau'tia does come over we're covered. Like i say i want him to stay and throw blame at the club for letting him get in to his last year, but no 1 player is bigger than the team.

Absolutely, he's got this saviour of the club reputation like he single handedly saved the club from relegation. Yeah he was a good player but i don't get where the love in with him comes from, it's bizzarre.

He made matty Russell look like a half decent winger.
I find it quite amusing, no very amusing, that people are urging us to throw money at a player most dismissed two years ago as not being good enough, can't time a pass, no pace, never puts his winger away etc. etc.
I hope we keep Toby, he is still improving but if he goes and we can find another centre who can catch a high crossfield bomb then we won't notice much difference.
As for recent (ish) centres who are far superior, off the top of my head ....... King, Bridge, Hiku, Gleeson, Kohe-Love, Atkins. And even the likes of the much derided Rhys Evans would have a shout too. Further back, Bateman, Duane, Ropati, Rudd, Blake, Vagana .......... point made

I have seen all those in action. King hardly covered himself in glory in his first season and was an Aussie international. Bridge and Gleason were way ahead of him in age/development. If you think King is only about catching high kicks then I wonder what you are seeing. Rudd...should have been great but wasn’t. Hiku a few appearances against lowly opposition. As for R Evans you have to be joking. I’m not saying he is the messiah but he is the stand out centre in SL this season and improving.
It's one thing to compare to past players, it's more relevant to compare to current talent pool and in the same breath, those that are/could be available. You wont get a better utility back than Mamo currently and he's also OOC, if it's an out and centre we're going to have to look at the potential departures from each club (aside from buying someone)
