Isn't it just. The use of outdated clichés and phrases "brains trust", "big unit", "text book tackle".
Just comment on what is seen with accuracy and insight and get some relevant "colour commentators"* who have played the modern game in the last 15 years who have some semblance of articulation and expression who can describe the things we may not see or be aware of. Ideally ex players who don't sound thick or a parody of themselves. There is no need for attempted humour or jokes - this is pro sport. We have other channels for comedy.
JD is a legend but the game moved on decades ago.
