Because most players know it constitutes a penalty. I could've put in that hit.

no you couldnt, Ryan Hall is 6ft and you couldnt tackle an egg custard...

Morley Hit him Legally, ask Ben Westwood about illegal hits if your unsure...

I see more penalties on jumping full backs and wingers because the hitter gets giddy or is isnt very bright and hits them while they have two feet off the ground ...

Morley hit him bang on end of story...
like mentioned above why doesnt it happen every week.....OR maybe it does in the national leagues but we arent that pooh so we dont get to see it....

Looking at the footage Hall does seem a fair bit off the floor when Moz hit him.

I'd have a look at it again cock...Hall gets no more than a maximum of a foot off the ground at the highest point of his jump

so unless he's learned to Levitate like David Blane he's done well to travel across the ground without coming down.

then look at the in goal touch judge and the ref who are in perfect positions to rule it an illegal tackle...

I suggest you go to the saints site where they will tell you the only forward in the world that dishes out big hits is James Bomber Graham......

Whether he's a foot off the ground or a mile off the ground is irrelivent surley?

Felt that hit sat at the back of the East stand. I think Hall knew what was coming before he got the ball (he couldn't exactly miss Moz coming straight at him) yet he didn't bottle it. Fantastic from both players.

He pretty much hit him spot on as his feet were landing back on the ground. A penalty would never be given for that kind of tackle as there are inches (if anything) in it.

I'm also not 100% sure about the rules or ref's guidelines on this one. If it is at the other end, and you are going for a try, what is to stop you leaping off the ground to get over the line so the defence can't touch you? I'm not sure if this only applies when you are defusing a high kick, which Hall wasn't doing in this instance.

Good hit but I am more impressed by Hall getting the ball under pressure on his own try line and keeping hold of it.

The rules state:

It is illegal to tackle an opposing player attempting to field a kick whilst the player is in mid-air. The catcher must have returned to the ground before being tackled.
