Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm
good luck kev........... scored some nice tries but let some real howlers in too........will never forget gr8 try vs saints and also 20m tap last game of year 2009!!! good in an average team...a weak link in a team in the hunt for silverware.

how did Matt king go in that average team by the way......!!
Penny didnt deserve the crap he got from his home town fans he's better off elsewhere.....
maybe When wigan Fans have a pop at us for not producing home grown youngsters the problem isnt our youth set up, its the fact that when they knock on or miss a tackle we give them a dogs life, yet when Aussie Test players do we let them off because they havent settled in....
thats one thing thats ruined my memory of penny's time here, the second is Cullen giving him such a big contract after his wonder season when he should have been just held back a peg or two, and the third is Tony Smith not wanting to bother with him.....
when Tony smith has fecked off, regardless of whatever he's won with us I'll always think what could have been.....
so to that I'd like to thank cullen for giving him a go and the times he goosed Gidley Gardner and Wellens and burnt off the superstar Chris Ashton just as he was being "johnny big balls and going off to union".
some of the responses on here are cringeworthy.... still the best finisher is super league?
please.....
he isnt even the best finisher in the under 20's team.
some of you lot are living in the past... yes he scored some good trys when we were mediocre...
but he isn't good enough... you can dress it up how you like... salary cap.. whatever.... tony smith is probably the greatest coach this club has had... and he doesn't feel that penny is worth a first team contract... but hang on a minute surely all the other teams in super league will be waiting in the wings to snap up such a talented winger.. how could warrington let him go.

Biscuit I too was always in the pro-Penny camp but I think you have to respect Smith's decision here, look at his track record, he isn't a coach who discards young talent without a reason. Lee Smith, Ryan Hall, Ashley Gibson, Danny Williams, all these outside backs got their chance under Smith at Leeds, some did better than others, but at a big club like that he could have signed high profile players but he gave lads a chance just like he's given Riley a chance. He has obviously judged Penny as not good enough for the Wire time, time will tell whether that was the right call or not. I would rather Penny was playing first team rugby somewhere else, than everybody always wondering if he was good enough or not, as a squad player at Wire. I hope he goes well.

Well put.
We have to trust TS, he's seen us right so far. If he named me in the squad for Saturday, I'd be nervous, of course, but I'd think 'there's a reason for this, just go with it.'
Bye Kev, good luck and thanks for the memories. 'That' try alone at KR would do it, what a day..
Penny was a decent enough player going forward who had pace to burn, the one thing he lacked for me was the rugby brain. His defensive positioning cost us a few tries in the past, tries that a more steady winger would have covered easily.
Unfortunatly, in todays modern super league, pace is not really enough to qualify as a quality winger. Strength and size are key to be able to compete in that position.
All the best to Kevin where ever he ends up, his excitment and core skills were unfortunatly not backed up by his techinical side. Further coaching and 1st team game time will be key for him to improve further.
I think the 'rugby brain' is the real reason TS wanted rid.
I think back to the 2nd try against Hull FC on Friday, the Atkins/Riley interchange, you could play that situation over and over again and i firmly believe with Penny you wouldn't score any time, he doesn't have Rileys intelligence.
