I assume Powell plans to use Mata'utia at half-back, with Wrench and Wardle isn the centres. Where to use Ratchford seems to be the issue now.

Whilst I'm unsure about Mata'utia to HB it's certainly an option. What I do agree with is that this move does highlight the where to play Ratchford question and to the same extent Widdop, although that's probably eased with Charnley out of contention

Right side Wrench and Thewlis backed up by Holmes (who I thought had one of his better games in defence). Left side Ashton, Wardle and Currie with FB Widdop/Ratchford

I suppose it stops the King to Second Row debate

“We are looking to build a really exciting outside back division, with youth and pace as a central point of that.

“Jake fits that bill perfectly alongside the quality outside backs coming through at the club already.”

Surely that means Powell expects this to be made permanent. Maybe it's just a case of the agents waiting to agree terms.

I don't know how much credence to give this, but if there's any truth in it I will be furious.

It is easy to want to bin King off because his form has been bad, but with the right coaching and mentoring (which he would get from Watson) he will be running around Super League scoring and creating tries for the rest of this decade.

I know he us a Yorkshire lad but he has come through our youth system. We should be angry to see young players from our system playing Super League at other clubs - O'Brien, Livett, George King could all do a job in our current squad.

Both Kings were from the Huddersfield academy and we lost them to you a few years ago . He is coming home . Probably a good buy if business for both teams . Two unhappy players at the current clubs with a chance to shine or sulk at new clubs

According to the BBC, 'arrangement to be reviewed at the end of the season'.

I wonder whether we could see Ratchford playing at 13 (as he's done once before)? His ability to cover so many positions certaily makes him a great player to have on the bench,

Wonder where this puts the ‘Wardle to Wigan to replace Bibby done deal’ for 2023?

Can’t decide myself what to make of the deal. Disappointed that another young lad we’ve brought through our system hasn’t made it playing for us. However since signing the new contract last season which must of been with Daryl Powell’s input he has regressed rather than progressed. They’ve obviously had words and fell out.
The salary cap obviously comes into it as well and the deal we’ve given him is too high and must not fit in with the team Powell is trying to assemble. The new Wrench and Thewlis long term contracts are taking more money than originally anticipated.

My other concern would be the contract Joe Philbin as been given and money it takes on the salary cap. I was shot down in flames by a couple of posters 18 months ago when stating at the time he was way out of form since signing the long term deal. I genuinely now can’t see him fitting in the team next year.

Back to King, maybe Ian Watson can get better out of him and he can go on and be a great player. To be fair to Watson he’s done it numerous times. If Toby’s form improves again under different coaching it could be a straight shootout between him and Wardle for a World Cup place. For me however the right deal as been struck because personally Toby needs a new environment and he’s not as good as the man he replaced and won’t be in Ryan Atkinson.

Because he isn’t getting picked.
And quite rightly so given the form of other players in the squad. Wardle struggled massively with injuries has done since academy days and was very lucky to be playing at all given He was out for two years during his early playing days. Unfortunately that’s given others the opportunity to shine.
Interesting that every other player at giants declined to play in the mid season international except him. They’ve decided to focus on their club.
Watson has a habit of not playing players who say they are moving on the next season as he doesn’t see them as committed. Whether that’s anything to do with this who knows given rumours.
Personally I think wire have the better deal here. But let’s see.
