So sorry for that Purple, on the other hand maybe we should aim a lot bigger say Old Trafford or how about the Olympic Stadium, maybe SM could charter planes for all our fans to get over there

I hope it sells out in only a couple of weeks so they are forced to move it to a bigger venue. Silly idea considering the improved attendances since 2004.

The RFL want to see full stadiums, with no empty spaces. Hence why the Galpharm was probably turned down...

I think it would have been feasible to sell up to 20k tickets for this game.

I am going to buy 3 tickets tomorrow, as we only have 3 season tickets. Had we have been able to get 2 per person I would have got 6, and had we been allowed more, we could have possibly have taken a group of 10 or 12, and made it a family day out, especially with it being my birthday that weekend.

The problem that the RFL had was the lack of suitable grounds around that capacity. If Saints ever get their 18k capacity stadium, I have no doubts that these games would be played there.

The way the ticketing arrangements are should allow for all regular fans to attend this match who want to, however it doesn't really allow for a load of new fans (glory hunters, call them what you will) which these games can potentially attract.

I think Saints have more season ticket holders than us, and allow for 4 per ticket. Now seeing as they have plenty of experience of selling tickets for these games, that suggests that they are well aware that there is a decent section of ST holders who do not buy tickets.

Only in rugby league are we obsessed with attenadances/amount of empty seats etc.

Id rather see 2500 empty seats in a 22000 seat stadium than 250 in a 12000 stadium

Lucky HKR didn't get through, the trip to the Maracana would have been a bugger for the Wigan fans.

It's all about perception though.

The figures you quote are a little out too, as we don;t have a 12k or a 22k stadium to debate.

Empty seats galore for a cup semi final suggests that we just couldn;t sell the tickets. Sponsors and potential partners will be impressed with a packed Halton Stadium with a fantastic atmosphere.

I suspect the RFL use games like this, Wembley and Old Trafford to court new sponsors and partners.

We had 30k at Edinburgh and all people did was moan about the empty seats!

Not a chance, the only time that number of sales has come anywhere near is when Leeds and Saints play.

Probably true, but of course how many complaints will they have by fans saying the stadium isnt big enough.

I think it shows Saints season ticket holders don't bother with semis any more, especially as it's "only" Huddersfield. When Hudds played Leeds in 2006 they got a 12574 crowd.

The fixture dictates the stadium, not the other way around, you might as well say 5,000 empty seats in an 50k stadium is just as good.
