The club are currently talking to a lot of players and there representatives. So reading reports that we're looking at Fitzgibbon after Leeds have already offered him a contract is his agent using Moran's spending capability to get the best deal possible for his client. Although I wouldn't rule out Warrington involvement. And I fully expect this to keep happening until we announce signings as we have 1 marquee player, Daryl Clark set to leave, a 3rd marquee being introduced, and potentially up to 3 quota spaces being freed up. So you'd think the board would be looking at bringing in 2 high profile NRL players plus another decent work horse type NRL player that won't cost as much. Potentially exciting times at Warrington !!!

So what are the board trying to do ? They're trying to talk Matautia out of his decision to retire at the end of the season and have offered an extension. A poor decision IMO with DP's favourite pupil not being looked at pragmatically. A good player, but one who's at the end of his career. At times this season he's been a defensive turnstile. Not the mentality of a club wanting to win a GF.

I've read on social media some fans surmising that 1 of the marquee's will either be King or Walker with either of them only counting as £50k as a club trained marquee. But I think it would be better to register Williams as a federation trained player costing £100k on the cap, leaving 2 top level NRL players counting as £150k each. By my understanding you can only have 1 club or federation trained marquee, but I may be getting that wrong ?

I understood that Clark was NOT one of our marquee players, at the time he extended his last deal.

If King ends up as a marquee player I think the RLFANS Warrington sub-forum will end. And I don’t want that to happen.

Pleased with Currie's new deal. Just hope that the version of him we saw in the first six or seven weeks of the season makes a return.

Think I will go see Dr Strange and ask him to send me to a different universe because while I’m in this one I don’t ever think I will live long enough to see us win the GF. Asking Mata’utia to reconsider retirement I give up.

Agreed, I like him as a bloke, he will do a professional job wherever he is asked to play, but we can do a lot better in the recruitment market looking for a new centre IMO.

The first six or seven games we were well on top of other teams and that's when you will see currie getting involved. Once it's an arm wrestle of a game he becomes a bit part player and his deficiencies become obvious. A once great player and prospect, a victim of injuries.

Not quite; a club can have three marquees, one of which needs to be federation trained (or homegrown). So a team can have 3 homegrown marquees (for a cap total of 150k), 1 federation trained marquee, and 2 non-fed marquees (for a cap total of 400k), 2 non-fed marquees (for a cap total of 300k), but a team cannot have 3 non-fed trained marquees.

For a real life example, Warrington could have Williams (Federation trained), Nathan Cleary (Non-Fed Trained) and James Tedesco (Non-Fed Trained) as 3 marquees for a total of 400k cap space. However, they could not then do a swap deal switching Williams for Addo-Carr, as that would take their fed trained marquee out for another non-fed trained marquee, even if they had an additional 50k cap space (as 3x non-fed marquee players would be 450k).

To be fair, thought he had a very good game vs Hudds

He will do from time to time and when things are going great he'll be in the mix.
