Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Firstly i would say age for starters, we are in danger of becoming an over 30`s club again if we send out this sort of message to players agents that you can get a game at Warrington regardless of age, i can hear Billy Boston polishing his boots and tightening his studs as we speak.

We currently have 7 players in our squad that are 30 and over.

Didn`t Brian Carney have long standing issues with his hamstring towards the end of his RL career ? I can remember him pulling up for GB with it towards the end and i`m sure i remember him being out injured with that problem at Wigan.

His hamstrings stood him in good stead at Newcastle. Chris Hicks is an over 30 winger who is still doing the biz, plus, it isn't as if Carney is not playing first team rugby albeit in an inferior sport. It comes down to the old chestnut; who else is out there?

Johnson is full of application, but isn't particularly effective, King looks more comfortable back at centre, Riley is more effective at fullback. For whatever reason, Penny is back in the reserves with an imminent return looking unlikely. A winger would be a healthy addition, to a threequartrer line that looks a little lethargic, whilst not forgetting weare down a fullback and centre in Reardon and Gleeson.

I would rather we spent our money developing our own home grown talent than bring over a foreign crock from union to top up his pension plan. Better players on our own doorstep.

not really since we signed full back Richie Mathers. And Bridge seems to have returned fully from his serious injury to look like a very accomplished Centre....

Carney would be a disgraceful signing for a club with any kind of ambition.

But it was after he had finished playing for Newcastle that he picked up his hamstring injury whilst playing for GB at the end of 2006, maybe it was an injury waiting to happen and a matter of when and not if.

Hamstring injuries are something which are very hard to recover from, just ask Lee Briers or Ryan Giggs for an opinion on the subject, once you have an hamstring injury thats gone a few times its as if they stay with you until the next time that you slightly over do it.

Very true. The troubles that 35 year old, current PFA Player of the Year Ryan Giggs has had with his hamstrings has wrecked his 800+ appearances career at Man Utd.

What a player he could have been without those blasted hamstrings, we'll just never know.
