"loyalty" = if they are any good they should stay with us no matter what other offers they get BUT if they are out of form we should be allowed to rip up their contract and bin them off!
People overthink this stuff about loyalty and who came through the Academy etc.
When we signed guys like Westwood, Briers, Ratchford, Daryl Clark, Lineham, where did we think we got them from? They were signings picked up from other clubs that had brought them through their Academies. Did anyone consider that those guys were lacking loyalty to the clubs that had brought them through?
Also this idea that it will be some sign of great decline if one of our guys like Toby King leaves to go elsewhere...well it wasn't for those players' clubs? All those guys I have mentioned above, played in Warrington teams that finished below their former clubs.
And if the argument goes that we had to pay more to get them because they weren't our Academy products, well why didn't they just stay at their former clubs on the cheap? If Hull KR, Hudds, Catalans are putting in big money for Toby King then we'll see if he stays with us on the cheap, just for the warm glow of playing for the team who brought him through the Academy, or whether he takes the market rate on offer to him, which is basically to say - OK Warrington, match what I'm offered by other clubs or I'll leave.
