I always thought that Wareing presenting It’s a Knockout showed how little the BBC thought of our sport.

I take a different view as TBF It's a Knockout was must see viewing on a Saturday night in the 70s.

Granted he was no Stuart Hall but Eddie presenting big time RL on the BBC certainly put the sport in the parochial north

It may well have been as the show aired during the salad days time of my life.....oh for the summer of 76 every day was sunny and a 'Saturday'.

However, I never thought of hosting It's a Knockout was a put down and don't get me started on Jeux Sans Frontieres, where the intrepid Eddie and co got stuck into the Fil Rouge.

I’d forgotten about Fil Rouge, French triallist played for the reserves at Half back never really kicked on

Surely Ray French should have been on Fil Rouge not Eddie Waring?
