How do you defend the indefensible.
You’ve got to be able to take sledging off an opponent in professional sport.
There was a minimum ban of 6 matches set, he’s possibly pleaded not guilty to get the extra match.
We knew what we were getting but probably expected him to be banned for levelling an opponent.
As for it being a joke of a ban, I don’t want to trawl back years but this board hanged, drawn and quartered Hardaker for slurring Michael Monaghan and want him banned forever.

The irony is he'd have probably got less by throwing half a dozen right hooks which is ridiculous

Pretty convinced it was before the Mata’uia try.
I mentioned it to my mate in the North Stand that McGuire was arguing with Leigh player and he was still at it after the Curry try.
If this is the case and I’m not sure, the coaching team should have had him off the field, half expecting him to kick off on the Leigh player. Punching him not for calling him

I'm finding it harder and harder to love this sport and I'm definitely becoming more indifferent to watching games. Every season there seems to be another nail securing the lid of the coffin

The incident with Hardaker, was with James Child.

He later claimed that his remarks were aimed at Monaghan, but Child and all the other players on the pitch, new that they weren`t.

There had to be some sort of punishment, otherwise there’s no deterrent. But this sets a precedent now.

Also, I guess we’ll see what sort of bans are handed out when a player deliberately tries to injure another. Working on what happens in the ‘real world’ you’d expect a massively worse punishment than this for attempting to injure or maim.

I thought they'd make an example of him, fair enough he shouldn't have called him a Spastic but in the grand scheme of things is that really worth a 7 match ban?
