It funny how you lot see the game because you were desperate for us to lose. What Lees said wasn't anything new, every team does that. Hull last week exploited it royally and stayed in a game they were never near simply by stopping any momentum Saints had by holding down. All teams do it when you get a referee as weak and out of their depth as Jack Smith.
If you look at the big calls in the game, they all went against Saints. The late shot on Lomax would be a penalty and a yellow card if one of our players did it. It was worse than the two yellow cards against Leeds. Yet they produce a green card to punish Lomax for having the audacity to get shouldered in the ribs off the ball. Then there was the run of about seven repeat sets Huddersfield got that resulted in the try that went to the video ref. None of those decisions were right and the knock on Smith pulled out in the set prior to the try just didn't exist, he just made it up. The try itself wasn't a try either, there was no part of his hand or arm in contact with the ball as it hits the floor. If you compare that to the Makinson one in the Leeds game, which wasn't given, you're left confused again. As with the four previous weeks, it's difficult to watch our games and not conclude we're being refereed differently to the other teams.
If you look at Twitter you've got Saints fans moaning about the inconsistent treatment we get, you've got Wigan, Leeds and Warrington fans calling us cheats and saying we get everything. Tellingly you've got genuine neutrals like Hull KR and Salford fans bemoaning the lack of consistency in the referees and expressing shock at some of the calls against us.
For all the 'they get everything' shouts, we went 30+ minutes without a single six again or penalty twice in that game. Smith chose not to require teams to be square at marker and he didn't play offsides, both of which benefitted Huddersfield massively. Yet Sky allow Phil Clark to call Saints cheats and try to influence the referees ahead of the derby in a couple of weeks. At best the officiating is a mess in Super League, but it'll never improve given the incompetent people they have in charge currently.
