Went to watch the airshow at RAF Cosford yesterday and there wasn't a decent data signal to keep tabs on the game. Turned out to be a good thing as it would have ruined a very good day at the air show.
I really don't know what the answer is to this situation. I feel a bit sorry for Powell in that he's got the record for turning clubs around but may have met his match in Warrington. Sacking him now won't help anything, unless we are in serious danger of relegation (and I don't think we're there yet). We'll just end up with another false dawn as an unproven NRL coach struggles to do anything with us. I just have a sneaky feeling that a shaken-up squad with a fresh start next year (and much lower expectations and less pressure) will help Powell get the best out of us. The problem is whether the catastrophe of this season will be accepted by the fans and the board.
Since I don't have the answers I'm not going to go through the same old moans like I normally would. I'll sit back and relax, and wait as patiently as I can for the start of the '23 season. Like most catastrophes, it's probably not one major cause, it's a multitude of smaller reasons that have built up over the years and combined in such a way to create the perfect storm. We need a Steve Jobs style resurrection of the club.
I agree that DP needs time, and were not
yet staring relegation in the face. However, there's absolutely no sign that this squad (and that includes players that he has brought in, with the exception of the injured) has done nothing but disintegrate since 2021. The selection policy is just mindboggling, and were risking the future of the academy, if talent continues to treated in such a way as they have so far under Powell. I cannot see anything to suggest that there's an upward curve coming our way, and were seriously heading towards relegation as our performances have on the whole been championship standard this season. Even the three wins we achieved at the start of 2022, were on the back of three poor performances. I agree that we have to go backwards to allow us to build for a GF victory, but not that far backwards that we land in the championship.
