Re: Powell OUT : Sun Jun 18, 2023 11:23 pm
somebody mentioned the 80-nil v Saints...and this being as bad. Totally agree.
I'll not watch another live match until Powell is gone....along with Fitzpatrick and the dead wood players that are currently stealing a living.
I'm done. I'm not wasting any more of my time or money with this bunch of amateurs. All the best. OE

I understand where you're coming from OE.

I was at that 80--0 match too and it was awful beyond words.
After that match I just felt 'nothing'. Totally numb.
For me this isn't as bad. At least I had anger yesterday.
However, I didn't blame DP yesterday and I don't blame him now.
The majority of this is down to not doing the basics correctly and respecting the ball - on top of which the so-called senior players didn't step up to remind the rest of the game plan (which we never got to see started).

I've decided not to go on Friday as a 4 or 5 hour round trip and a s4it performance would be too much to take.

you have to be realistic... he has called out the 'bad culture' and now has a host of senior players on the way out.... they will be toxic and are probably a very big cause of this pathetic, clueless rugby.

you cant call for the head of someone brought in to do a rebuild, when he hasnt had a chance to do it yet.

if we are this bad this time next season, then yea.... but not now.

I feel similar, changing culture is not a fast fix and will take time.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Re: Powell OUT : Mon Jun 19, 2023 10:26 am
We were never going to win that game, the coach and his team cannot create enough enthusiasm within the players and as such we are looking flat when playing. DP has yet to show that he can affect a game that is getting away from us. It makes no sense that we looked unstoppable for 8 games and then we look like we won't win again. This has to be down to a lack of belief in the tactics and/or each other. There were parts of the game yesterday where players taking the ball in were looking for support and the supporting players were running away from the ball.

Overall I am beginning to believe that DP cannot take us any further forward.

I agree with you. To me it's a combination of

- Lack of applying basic skills under pressure - mental preparedness. We are weak and fragile and have been for as long as I know. We are prone to panic when behind and switch off when ahead.

- Lack of true desire and will to win. Wigan had this in spades yesterday.

- Lack of adequate technical ability in certain areas (positional kicking, ineffective half).

- Lack of on-field leadership to change things when needed.

- Lack of discipline.

I think everyone in the performance team needs to take responsibility for that performance. It's been coming for 2 months. Everyone could see it.
