smith must play bridge at halfback : Sat Mar 14, 2009 4:07 pm
the only time warrington win, and win good, is when chris bridge plays in the halfs.
i don't care if he partners mono or briars, but he has to play there.
he is without doubt warringtons best player, and you need to play your best players clostest to the ball.

briars with numourous rumors of the party team leader have certainly played a part in a lifetime career of hot and cold games
mono isn't expansive enough to forfil is dream of being a scrum half. he fits the bill of nothing more than the wannabe from a hooker that he was is oz.

smith must drop one of them and play bridge at 6 or 7.
:P

Best post I have read. Bridge is what is needed in the halves. At the moment we look clueless there and imo Briers is the player to drop out. I no doubt will hear the Briers has done this and that and his kicking game will be missed but he is a total liability in defence and some of the penalties he gives away are unforgivable, Sts last year with his finger in Grahams eye, and Wakey this year with his hands down the opponents shorts spring to mind. Bridge to me is a totally natural 6 and with his side step and strength could go on to great things if he can show the correct attitude and determination.

There is no harm in trying, Bridge seems to have that creative spark Briers used to show

Briers only contributes by sulking and spitting his dummy out when you lose.

well, the fact in the main that's been discussed at length on here over teh previous 5 years arguing that bridge has put in many ineffective performances at 6/7 since joining us.

it's been said as well by the coaching staff that bridge can't/won't control a game from halfback, he's pretty good in training(about 3 years ago) but won't transfer it to the pitch.

However, it's been so long since bridge has had a run in the halves, it's easy to remember the good stuff, which sadly doesn't outway the bad, bridge and briers are totally different players. And to re0iterate the above, bridge has never been able to fill the briers gap whenever he's been out.

And before anyone says that bradford game,(cos i would) the exception proves the rule.

balls they've scored again.

Bridge started in the halves for 30 games in 2006/07, we won 12 of them and lost 18 so we were hardly a storming team with him there.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

I've been waiting to see that during all his time here.
