Also Golden point to win the game two 5 minute periods to try to win the game,if at end of that it’s not decided it will be a draw. Also a 2 Referee system to be trialed in reserve games with a view to it coming in in 2020.

It's the injury hold up that bothered me.
Glad they are trying to do something about it.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

What are the penalties for taking too long on the "shot clock". For example if you took too long with a dropkick from under the posts do you get a penalty in front of the posts ?

It does not say what the penalties for the scrum and drop out are, but for the conversion clock there will be a fine on the club.

I'm not a fan of Golden point at all i think it's poop. All that happens for 10 mins is run as far up as you can and take a shot at goal. The players put a massive amount of stress on their bodies as it is so adding another potential 10mins to it is stupid.

Totally agree, there's nothing wrong with a draw they are usually hard earned and can feel like a win or loss depending upon the circumstances.

I actually liked the free play rule. Added a bit of excitement seeing your team pick up a loose ball in the middle of a broken field.

Like the idea of shot clocks, golden point not so. There’s just no need for it, draws give plenty of excitement as it is, and a draw is often the fair result.

Just seems like another gimmick for rugby league to jump up and down and say look how different we are.

I also wonder how we work the shot clock, if a player has a broken leg on the ten yard line, I presume the shot clock will not apply. But for instances of less severity who decides whether that injury is real or significant? A non medically trained referee?

Re: The Golden rule : Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:47 am
The shot clock works pretty well in the NRL. It should minimise some forms of gamesmanship at drop outs.
Some of the teams with bigger packs will struggle with the scrum clock. Their whole game plan for the last few years revolved around a good minutes rest before defending a set.
It is the right move. We need to clean up the things that have crept into the sport over the last few years.
There are a couple more things that could do with cleaning up and that is a dummy half passing straight into a defender behind the PTB and defenders running into a lead runner effectively creating an obstruction in a try scoring opportunity.

If a defender is behind the PTB but is doing all he can to not interfere and then the dummy half doesnt make an attempt to play around him i think the penalty should go against the dummy half. That should stop it dead in its tracks.
The obstruction would be more difficult to police.
