I,m not sure if it was cost effective in promoting the game, there is always plenty of away support anyway plenty enough to give it that home game feeling. Percival mentioned something on SKY Sports that the Saints players are always up for this game of late and I don't think our players look too far ahead, Percival also mentioned they take things week by week so I would imagine Wire are only in their heads this coming week.
Must admit that it did make me wonder as to whom it was pitched at. As it flew over St Helens, I assumed it was to try and gain some additional away support, but agree with you that Saints bring more to the HSJ than any other away team. So, yes, I would guess it wouldn't be cost effective. As for trying to distract Saints, I just don't get it and doubt it working. If it was to try and drum up some home support, as it was shown at ht against Trinity, then the rugby on show certainly didn't help.
Something needs to be done to market superleague, as the RFL and Sky do very very little. However, I'm not sure that this is the way forward, although it was some light relief in the middle of a poor game.
