Thompson started and Philbin came off the bench, totally different roles to compare them like for like with stats.

Thompson is quality. I have no issue with that. I'm talking about our troll friend using exactly the same arguments as he's arguing against over on the Wigan board. Have a look and you'll see what I mean. I'd say he loves moving the goalposts but it would be more accurate to say he's completely dismantled them and put them in storage!

Yes I know but Thompson had to do the hard yards at the start when Wire were on top. Philbin came on when defences were tiring but he didnt have much effect at all, when he returned to the fray in the second half he just gave penalties away. On the otherhand Thompson stepped up a gear and supported every half break to eventually get his try.

I wasn't offering an opinion on who was the better player of the two on the night, they did far differing roles. Philbin couldn't do the hard yards at the start, as he was on the bench, it's not possible to compare.

Yes it is. Thompson was very good, Philbin was rubbish. Philbin’s role may well be different but his stats are still really poor.
