Look, can't we just admit that a small club like wire has no history.
I mean, we are the ONLY club never to have been relegated. We have played in front of the world record crowd when we won the cup. Oh, and we also had that fella called Bevan who is the greatest tryscorer the game has ever seen,................or ever will!

I didnt know old bandaged knees played in the 1999 aussie grand final in front of 108,000 at the sydney olympic stadium........christ he must have been 102

We played in front of a world record crowd when we won the cup. I know you lot are high on the government statistics for incest, but surely you can understand that statement?

To be honest, I never looked forward to playing saints, they always won routinely, it was a game I just always expected to lose. When at best we were fighting to scrape in to the last spot of the playoffs every year I always wanted us to play the saints style over Wigans set moves style rugby though. They're a great club with a few fans who are idiots, same as us. Some of the rubbish that comes from saints fans on this page is embarrassing, then again some wire fans do similar on their forum.

I'm glad we beat them in the final, really, really glad, because it puts some of that hoodoo to bed. Given the reaction from the saints club and fans it seems they got far too used to their routine wins against us and don't like the fact that we have joined the party.

I started watching in 74 and Saints were not even on my radar. Wigan for me were THE enemy, then Widnes.
The ill feeling probably comes on our part from all those last minute wins. On theirs it’s probably from the recent history of us raining on their parade.
Personally I find all the name calling (on both sides) rather infantile, but that may reflect my advancing years.

Given the title of the thread it was never going to be a thought provoking discourse, but, some of the 'banter' from both sides isn't worthy of a second glance it's beyond puerile.

Saints are the team to beat this year and we have in quite a big game so that will do for starters. As far as my RL history is concerned Widnes, Wigan then Salford the latter being personal to me. Saints weren't really on my radar well not in a "dislike" sense although this latest crop of fans, players and club officials are beginning to grate.
