It might not have worked out as planned but that's bit disrespectful IMO.

We've had plenty worse some have come with reputations and for decent money. I think we all including Patton may have hoped for something better at least he didn't act the goat and if he leaves then good luck to him as far as I'm concerned.

Agree, if he leaves then I hope he goes on to have a good career in rugby, whether that be league or union. I've wanted him to do well for us and in spells he has, I'd take him as cover next year but salary cap may not allow for that. I don't know what Dec earns but if we need cap space for a new prop then Riley Dean will do as cover for me. He needs game time for sure, I hope the reserve grade really helps Dean and thewlis. They're the sort of lads who will benefit the most.

Maybe this is the big deal that Martin Offiah has lined up for him.

Stephen Myler went to RU and had a fine career, he ended up getting an England RU cap.

Maybe just maybe Price has finally accepted he isn’t the answer and let’s be honest he’s not going to leave a big gaping hole in the side but either way good luck to him.

Could be another eloborate plan to re-sign him from RU on megabucks in a couple of years with the RU salary cap exemption.
In all seriousness it is a shame as I am a believer that a successful team needs a stable 1,6,7 & 9 for a few years.
We have stumbled around with full back with with the Russell experiment until Ratchford has settled there. 9 is sorted but the halves have been a bit of a car crash with Sandow, Gidley, Brown, Smith in the last few years. I was hoping that Patton might develop his combinations on that left edge with Currie, Goodwin and Lineham whist he had the opportunity.
If he does leave then I don't think anybody could say that he wasn't given a proper chance.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Re: Dec patton : Tue Sep 17, 2019 8:40 pm
I have a natural antipathy to slagging developing players off. I know in my own job I have made some absolute howlers when younger, and it takes time and patience to develop the skills required. The difference is our players make their mistakes in front of lots of people, there is a huge weight of expectation on some more than others, and it must weigh heavily.
Compare and contrast Patton and Philbin.
When starting a prop gets a few minutes here and there, nothing much is required other than don’t drop the ball and don’t miss a tackle. They can be nurtured and allowed to develop.
I’m not for one minute saying Patton is a world beater but a little compassion from the fans of the team he plays for wouldn’t go amiss.

The lad did it on the biggest stage against all the knockers....and without Austin.
Pound for lb Austin has been a right flop...yes I know he's class but his on field contribution has been about 20% of what I thought we might get, and has rnear zero social media criticism.
I proud of Patton and I can't wait till he rubs your noses in it as
He will be the most successful Warrington half in living memory if not ever.

Has Patton earned a contract reward?....well he deservesthe freedom of our town when we win the GF....
Do I want him at half back in 2020....the hell I don't, we've got Widdop!!

As others have said, not at the level we need to win SL. Good luck to him, hope he is successful in his next adventure.

Then he'll prove you and all the others wrong as he did at Wembley.
