This is a pretty incredible post.

A guy that has never lost.... who beat the undefeated Klitschko in Germany... Who came back from the brink of suicide to win the WBC World heavyweight title... having now held all the belts.... only the 2nd heavyweight to have held the ring magazine belt twice (the other was Muhammed Ali)... A man who hasn't ducked a fight in his entire life.

'yea but he hasn't fought anyone'

Jesus wept.

You win stupidest post of the year award... Go and sit in the corner, face the wall and never turnaround again... especially to watch boxing.

Fury's record outside of his 2 wins (which were 4 years apart) is terrible... terrible! Who you beat in boxing is what matters first and foremost, everything else comes after.
The way he has come back has been superb, but that doesn't make his record any better. His 3rd best win is against a cruiserweight for God sake (which he had to cheat to win)
Sure, the quality of fighters in the division has been low in the last 20 years, but there's always other contenders.
As for the ring belt, if they want to give it to him that's up to them, but he has 1 win against one of their top 10 heavyweights, and hasn't beaten the guy with the other belts, so I don't put that achievement has high as you obviously do.

No it isn't. Joshua has more wins against top 10 contenders than Fury and Wilder combined.

Surely that was the best era since Muhammed Ali was around. At least there was Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe.

When Tyson was ko ing everyone in the 1980s who did he ever beat who was top class? An aging Larry Holmes?

The 90s was a great era. The 80s was arguably the worst. Holmes and Tyson were good, although Tyson is overrated and overly mythologised, I doubt he makes the top 20 all time list.

Wrong sugar Ray, but you're right. Although, I never liked Leonard much for how he disrespected Hagler.

Doh. Yes Leonard.
I didn’t like him ether...but I respected how clever he was...he played boxing as scoring points whereas Hagler fought old school.

Back in the day as a lorry driver I used to stay over regular in Bethnal Green, one of the pubs I used to frequent was the green Light and one night in there the regular DJ and comedian Mike Kemp a local celeb who was also had small talking parts in such as the sweeney and the like looked at me and said alright john mite, couldn't believe how he knew my name and was embarrassed when the crowd started cheering and applauding me, it was even more embarrassing when I realised I was stood next to John H Stracey

Add in Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran and we had Minter, Sibson and later Benn, Eubank. Great days in the welter-middleweight categories. Loads of fights and loads of rivalry.

That period had to be the most prolific. It took middleweight purse to heavyweight proportions.
