Yes - both decisions were wrong, as was the yellow for Greenwood in the Goons match. It should have been a straight red. He should get a ban at the match review hearing ..... ah I forgot - he's a Goon. No charge to answer. Yellow sufficient.
Bmm was lucky to escape 10 in bin for his needless hit on seizer...but seizer gets 10 for kicking a ball into the stand...refereeing at times is appalling
To be fair, sam, the ref did his job, as the rules tell him to. Yes, BMM WAS late, but, if you're going to yellow card every late tackle, you're going to be playing a lot of 9's rugby (just as EVERY incorrect PTB would result in a penalty) . Sezer kicked the ball away in an act of petulance.... thems the rules.. Not the ref's fault, but at times, the law's an ass.

Very much as I see it. I would award a ptb from the 40 with zero tackle to penalise booting the dead ball away, seems more fitting. BMM did not deserve yellow, (we have seen little enough of him as it is). Wigan player should have got red but as there was less than 10 minutes left it made no practical difference and a ban is bound to follow.
I was watching on the OurLeague site. At the start of the break, whilst Sky was showing adverts, you could see and hear Long and Carney running through the replay of the Clark try. It wasn't recorded because, when Sky came back on air and they went through it again, the commentary was slightly different. If you thought that Long sounded thick then you should have heard him on his practice run.

Absolutely. Watching Hicks in action explains why Liam Moore is so well thought of.
I think we have got used to complaining about the standard of the rugby that Wire produce rather than looking at the game as a whole last night. The team were a little rusty and agreed, some of the errors were bad. Nobody mentioned Austin kicking the ball dead 2-3 times for instance, that is a killer for the forwards who worked hard to bring the ball back into the Hudds. end of the pitch. But there was plenty of stuff to enjoy. Cooper worked hard and his dummy run made the space for Clark's try. How about Widdop's chip over the top which should have resulted in a try. That was class, as was his drop goal. Hill got through a mountain of work and made none of his silly errors, and the try down the left edge started and finished by Clark was great to watch also. Hughes seems to be getting back his form and was a good 'third prop' for us. Finally Thewliss slotted straight into the team as though he had played all season. He is still an U18 and is a specialist FB not a winger, but seems to have an old head on young shoulders when try opportunities beckon (although he did nearly leave his wing open for a Hudds. try which they fortunately knocked on).
I thought Hudds. put out a pretty strong side and they are competitive and aggressive. You only need to look at the way Matt Davis got battered around to see how hard the fight was in the middle. So overall not a bad performance. I think third in the table is a fair position, we can still beat Saints and Wigan on the day but over the season they are better sides. As for the number of errors and standard of rugby, well that is what you get in SL these days. We either live with it or look elsewhere for entertainment.
If you'd have asked me a.month ago, I'd have said in a one-off GF we could do either Wigan or Saints, no reason to fear either of them.
But frankly, last night they were light years ahead of us; both sides were brutal in defence, the intensity was test match level and the pace unrelenting. It was worhy of being the GF.
It made our performance look like championship level. As we approach the play off they are ramping it up and we are stagnating.

Oh I'm not so pessimistic and think that Charlie's rusty reasoning is a fair assessment. Cast your mind back to the recent narrow defeat by Wigan (yes i know its a defeat) but I'd suggest that this game was of a similar standard intensity wise?
I was 'fortunate' to bump into Hardaker in a bar in Manchester and had a brief chat the day after that game and him and his pal agreed that our game was a proper game.
I don't think that we are light years behind at all although time will tell
I have always worried when we score very early in a game, it can send the wrong message and intensity drops. Before you know it you are in a dog fight. If we played like we did last night against Wigan playing like they did last night we would lose. However I think we can step up our intensity levels and I wouldn’t go into a game against them or Saints thinking we are going to lose. In fact didn’t Saints look very one dimensional without Walmsley?

Saints got drawn in to a physical game instead of playing their own game which has made them so formiddable in recent years. It was a great game to watch, Wigan were brilliant to be fair to them. If we try to play an arm wrestle against Wigan the same would happen to us because we don't have the front row pack depth to mat h them for 80 minutes. We should just stivk to what we are good at which is utilising our key players to make and exploit gaps and making sure there are players around to support them (like matty Ashton has been doing).
We can give both of those teams a good game though. Depends who we have available, we lost another in charnley last night. At least Ashton is rested and lineham should be back soon too, lineham is our best winger in poorer conditions.
