Yes it's a difficult one.
But I am relieved Powell is having a key say in recruitment

I could easily see after a run of 3-4 defeats on the bounce SP leaving 'in the best interests of all concerned'.
That could open the door.

Forgive me for stating the bleedin' obvious, but who were we expecting to be in charge of next year's recruitment?

Price?
Ed the Duck?
Meghan Markle Windsor?
Or Powell, in late October, when all of the available "talent" has already been snaffled up?

We've picked a coach. I'd expect him to pick next year's squad. Let's hope he's ruthless with some of our current non achievers

I was rather hoping our current recruitment team would remain in place to work alongside Darryl. "Hi Darryl, we couldn't get Liam Watts but we've resigned Latu".

I wonder how many of Powell's current squad will be playing out of their skins this season in the hope of following him to the bright side of the Pennines. We might even get G O'B back.

He’d be a better option than Austin at the minute and cheaper.

I'm not sure what salary Austin is paid (I believe it's a fair chunk) but I'd like to see what he offers playing under Powell, first. I know he's out of contract at the end of the season, but a slightly cheaper Austin playing in Powell's style might turn out to very handy. I guess we won't know unless Powell is parachuted in early for some reason.

I'd let Austin go to be honest, he got found out real quick and has been a Shell of a player since.
Peter Ma'tautia looks like he's headed to us and slot straight in at right centre, and i'm not sure if it will happen but if Trueman comes aswell i'll be happy.
Lineham can go, Charnley can go, Austin can aswell.
Inglis will be gone, Sita, J.clark, possibly Daryl Clark and Widdop. He's gonna have some money to throw around to rebuild a team with and i think he'll have a bit of pull with players so will attract some good quality players i hope.

Good to have Powell responsible for recruitment and I hope the first thing he does is secures Matty Ashton on a long term contract before other clubs show interest in May. Someone on here said he is not strong enough to play on the wing but he is 4 inches taller and over a stone in weight over Regan Grace and is heavier and taller than Josh Thewlis. Some have also said he has shortcomings in defence based on a fumble in the cup semi final. Ratchford fails to stop a second rower on the charge yesterday and his third pivot play was disappointing including a pass into the stands.
I hope Powell is bold enough to pick Thewlis at full back and Ashton before either Charnley or Lineham on the wing.
Ratchford will be 34 next summer and will still be more than useful as a utility player. It’s time to rebuild and back our young players.

It would be interesting to see if Daz Clark can regain his Man of Steel standard if he stays when Powell takes over.

to be fair, he's had a couple of years here where he should have been man of steel, if not a close runner up.
