If you're looking at who contributed most to Warrington over the duration of their careers, Briers isn't just our number one player of the super league era, he's our number one player of the whole post-Bevan era and probably second only to Bevan in Wire history.

He is without any doubt the greatest Wire of my lifetime and watching Wire was never the same after he retired.

On status, only Morley would come close. He was, cheekbone aside, superb throughout his time with us and made the players around him better.

On a pound for pound talent, again it’s Briers for me, but Hodgson and M Monaghan were an absolute pleasure to watch, especially in the same team. Both made things look simple, time slowed down while they picked out a pass or created a gap. We didn’t know how lucky we were at the time.

Langer and Johns also shown a knowledge of the game a cut above most, but Briers went yard for yard with them I’d say.
