What a player he was. Can't really add much more to what has been said already. A gifted player who could play off the cuff. He was a master at kicking.
This article sums Briers up perfectly:

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-union/news-comment/brian-ashton-game-will-be-won-or-lost-decision-making-7440538.html

"Whatever the thinking behind the selection for this game, coaches and players throughout English union would do well to beg, borrow or steal the television footage of last weekend's rugby league match between Huddersfield and Warrington. Regular readers will be aware of my love for the "other" code and also know that I am ever willing to learn from other sports. What I saw from the comfort of my armchair was a master-class from Lee Briers, the Warrington stand-off. Far more than most players in any form of rugby, he understands how to use the space around him, and with his technical attributes – running and passing, along with highly-developed kicking skills, both short and long – he creates havoc when he is on the ball."

Didn’t he get one with Saints for taking part in the ‘97 cup run? Think he got dropped for Goulding in the final?

The image of him reeling away backwards, arms stretched out wide after kicking the drop goal against Hull KR in the 2009 cup quarters will stick with me forever. That kick changed the course of Warrington history in my opinion.

Got to be out best player of the superleague era, absolute wire legend. Good luck to him in his future roles and I hope he comes back one day.

I agree.

Who would run him close? Westwood, Morley? No one else. Next after that might Michael Monaghan for me.

sacrilage i know, i wouldn't want him back in a managerial role, that hardly ever ends in a good way and tarnishes the overall reputation, look what happened to cull, he should have relieved of his duties at least a year before he was, instead it was left until everything went a bit toxic.

Also the week before he got a bus named after him by WOB

But I'd say that Cull is still revered. Being here when we went from being also rans to close to challengers is how he is remembered. Move to the new stadium and all that.
