Seems Saints now hit with Covid and cancelling matches. Will be interesting to here Saddened's views. Guess he'll try to blame Castleford for bringing the virus to Wembley. That would completely ignore the fact that every player had to provide a negative PCR test prior to squads being named..

Will Saints ever be able to match the number of games that Warrington have played in Super League this year?

Saints wanting to cancel a fixture that there was a good chance that they would lose post Wembley?

Surely not!!

There was a newspaper article a couple of days ago speculating that this app is so sensitive that it can actually ping people who have had no contact with each other but may live in adjoining property ,say terraced or semi detached.

i dont know about that, i know for a fact my next door neighbour(adjoining) has been isolating at some point, due to a positive test (no symptoms)

i didn't get contact off that.

I did however get told to isolate last month after going to the gym, and being stood in a corner away from everyone for an hour didn't even go in the changing rooms, the closest person to me would have been 30 plus feet away around a corner.

That being said i do recall when the app was first rolled out it was pinging every evening after 9 saying you'd been in contact(before the isolation than came in) that was supposedly one of the bugs in the system. i did wonder if that was someone walking past the house at the time.

Remember when Ian Millward was Saints coach and they had to play their big rivals Bradford with all their players out injured the week before the Cup Final, he still made sure Saints put a team out on the field even if it was all U21s and they were lambs to the slaughter.

That was when the game still had men with honour in it.

Honour my backside certain players flew into bookies to lump on bradford.and these were saints players...

I think it stinks. It does appear we're taking advantage of the rules around covid to get out of a fixture that doesn't suit our schedule. I'd much prefer us to field a team of those available and academy players and lose than swerve the game. Bottom line is that we could put a team out and are choosing not to. I don't like that at all. It puts us at risk of not completing the 18 games to fulfill the requirements to get into the playoffs. There will be 6 weeks left in the regular season and we'll need to complete a fixture every week at least to do that. With two or three likely to be called off within that, we could end up with three games in a week before the play offs to qualify. Then there are the financial losses to think about, we'd presumably have had a bumper crowd (for post-covid times) on Friday with the surge in PR and good feelings after the cup win.

As I've said earlier it's a crisis the sport needs to address this now. If we lose the Sky money SL is finished, the player's contracts will be ripped up and there will be chaos. Sky have already cut Super League coverage to one game a week, which is awful for promotion of the sport. The sport needs to get itself in order, get negotiating with the Government over protocols and get as many games played as possible. It needs to build towards the playoffs and Grand Final and not keep unraveling like it is currently.

Are you happy that Warrington are postponing games at the moment? You've got 9 players who've tested positive or been identified by track and trace. But with 9 out of the first team 25, are you really suggesting you couldn't beat Leigh? Your academy could probably run Leigh pretty close on their own. With 10 or so regular first team players you'd win comfortably and give a few lads a good run out.

Why call it off just because you can under the rules? Last season there was very little disruption and players and clubs seemed to understand the need to complete the competition. Now it seems like no one cares and just want to do as little as they can. Each game that gets called off is chipping away at the reputation of the competition and must be making Sky think twice about bothering at anything like the level they do.

Oh saddened, what’s happened on Friday?
Where that famous Saints elite academy?

Oh dear Saddened even you must be regretting starting this thread now. You just can’t resist getting a sly dig at Warrington when you get the chance even sighting us as an example of avoiding fixtures on Twitter. I’m beginning to think you are Poky’s dad.
