Northern Rail 9s Draw on BBC Radio Manchester The draw for next month’s inaugural Northern Rail Cup 9s competition will take place live on BBC Radio Manchester’s Rugby League Extra show on Thursday 25 June at 7:30pm. The tournament which is being played at Fylde RUFC in Blackpool on the Northern Rail Cup Final Weekend of July 11 -12 involves every English based Co-operative Championship and Championship 1 club not involved in the Northern Rail Cup Final and tickets are now available from all the clubs taking part. The draw will see the participating clubs who will each be entering full strength squads of 15 players into the 9 a side competition divided into three groups of four teams, and two groups of three for the group stages of the Northern Rail 9s. The first day of the competition will see all 18 clubs playing in group stages, with the top eight sides going forward to a straight knockout competition on the Sunday for the Northern Rail 9’s trophy. Meanwhile the 10 remaining sides will also compete on the Sunday in a competition to win the Northern Rail 9’s plate. The finals of both the 9’s trophy and plate competitions will be played as curtain raisers to the 13-a-side Northern Rail Cup Final at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road on July 12. Weekend tickets for the Northern Rail 9s event which runs on 11 and 12 July at Fylde RUFC are only available from Co-operative Championship clubs and are priced at £9 for adults and £5 for concessions Should supporters wish to upgrade to a Northern Rail Cup Final ticket prior to the event they should contact the RFL ticket office where there will be an additional £5 (Adults) and £2 (Concessions) charge.
