| Leigh Miners 0 v 26 Wigan St Pats
Leigh Miners were well beaten yesterday afternoon going down 26-0 in their own back yard against a well drilled and fired up Wigan St Pats outfit, The visitors were clinical in attack and solid in defence throughout the eighty minutes and were full value for their victory to remain unbeaten and top Group B comfortably. It took until the twenty minute mark for the first points of the match St Pats winger Jim Brown going over in the corner to give them a 4-0 lead. The visitors gave themselves a ten point cushion going into the break, with Miners in an attacking position from a scrum the ball was forced loose and picked up by Pats back row man Liam Gannon who raced away to score under the posts, Dean Hatton converting to give Pats a well-deserved half time advantage.
The second half was more of the same as far as the scoring went, Miners battled to get back into the game but with the Wigan outfit defending strongly there was no way through for Miners to register a score. Pats scored three second half tries through Dean Hatton, Shaun Boylan & Danny Higham, Ian Schofield kicking two goals to give them an excellent 26-0 victory
Miners worked hard in the second half and nobody could fault there effort but know they need to be a lot smarter in attack and control the ruck a lot better in defence in the coming weeks if they want to return to winning ways.
The club would like to wish Tony Doyle a speedy recovery after being taken off early in yesterday’s game with a knee injury, Tony will now miss the remainder of the short season after snapping is ligaments. Martin Lewis & Ross Bradley were also forced off in the first half but hopefully their injuries are not to serious and will hopefully be back playing in the next few weeks.
Next week Miners are away to local rivals Leigh East.
MINERS TEAM = Dainty, Skinkis, Gray, Lewis, Woods, Doyle, Smith, Connor, Gorton, Kay, Bradley, Thomason, Jones, SUBS = Farrimond, Jackson, Coppell, Howells

| yup, a bit weak in attack but the first half injuries didn't help. Defence at times was good but like the report says weakness around the ruck area was the main downfall, might have been a different stories if the long break by Ryan Smith in the first few mins mins had resulted in a try, looking forward to the 'Streets of Origin' battle next week at East though.
Saved me a lot of time editing the scoring highlights this week though - but don't let it happen too often
