Yep that’s right, someone saw the presentation on Thursday and within 24 hours they had signed & sealed a £250k deal, highly unlikely, in fact most improbable, that was the case
Still an excellent deal though, just prefer a bit of honesty about it
That is the first time I have seen a numbered figure quoted. It is quite the amount, and if correct I am even more impressed. Has that been officially released ?
I understand your skepticism, as it does seem an amazing result but for it not to be true, a lot of people are putting their own reputations and that of their respective companies (that they own) on the line.
In the first official email/press release, stating that a new sponsor had approached the club directly after the rebrand presentation and that PPS had agreed to step aside as the main shirt sponsor but stay on as the training gear sponsor, Derek was not the only person directly quoted. Dale Halliwell, the owner of PPS, was also directly quoted, explaining at length how it all unfolded.
Then comes the second email/press release, where more details of the events are revealed and Homes Together are named. In that email, the Leigh director Karen Roberts, who was first approached after the rebrand presentation, is named. Elgren are named as having helped very quickly create a shirt mock-up the next day, and the owner of Homes Together and the Managing Director are directly quoted at length. Their are also photos of Derek, Karen and the Homes Together people meeting at a restaurant wearing the shirts that evening in the Ivy in Harrogate.
It is an amazing set of events, but with so much detail, so many people involved, direct quotes and reputations on the line, I don’t doubt it.
