Fairly standard Leigh match, far more accomplished than last week, with more consistency.

Big minutes by Sidlow, don't recall Asiata going off but then again couldn't see much of anything in the second half given where I'd sat and by the end their photographer having a barny provided more of a distraction.

Brand went well at full back and Chamberlain stood out again.

Red card with less than a minute left is a bit of an annoyance but hopefully Green will be fully fit to play next time.

Sounds like an efficient performance and good showing from from Brand and Nisbet. Need to give everyone in squad game time in coming weeks and rest all injures ready for playoff game and hopefully final.

Sounds like a very good performance in trying conditions with the heat. Just one slight concern having another player sent off. Don’t know the reason, but teams will try and wind us up and we don’t want to take the bait. Most keep our discipline.

It was just a poorly timed tackle, don't think there was anything in it, just by the rules its a red. One of Thunder's players got a yellow, which I'll assume was for running in after the tackle was made.

Mention must be made of Sam Stone's willingness to chase down kicks when the speedsters aren't doing so. Sunday's try was just another example but wasn't the seeming lost cause that it was as Kheirallah was shepherding the ball dead in the AB Sundecks 1895 Final, the final nail in that day's coffin. It looks like Sam will not be at LSV next year if, as is to be hoped, Leigh gain promotion but this party will remember him and wish him well (apart from against us).

Definitely a unsung hero this year. Great energy consistent performance. Will be sad to see him go if that is case. One that would be great to keep.

I share Leyther's sentiments entirely. An absolutely bang-on summation of Stone's contribution. He will be missed.

If he does go, then I did feel that he was just the wrong side of the keep/release line. This is not his fault at all. I just think that it demonstrates the tremendous quality of the overseas signings that we have had this season and the quality of those that we must retain. Releasing him, if that is what to happen, will have been a very difficult decision given his contribution.

It was a warm day at Kingston Park providing an excellent family atmosphere with most fans confined to the West stand including the many youths who had taken part in the pre-match junior tournament and their parents. The more vocal leythers were able to locate themselves in the North Stand making themselves heard much to the annoyance of a local photographer dressed in blue who was ejected by stewards furious at something or other. A thoroughly professional performance from Leigh with very physical defence and sweeping attacking moves leading to exhilarating tries. The professional attitude was evident right from the warm up in which all of the squad displayed focus and obvious team spirit. This is a team that means business! Newcastle provided stern opposition and never gave up, though they were generally confined to their own half.

Stone is another player who I would rather went home rather than having to face him in another team.

He reminds me of Mitch Brown, a solid, reliable and skilled player who quietly went about their business in an effective manner and never quite got the plaudits.

Wasn’t such a good day here I got abuse from the photographer
But he ended up being thrown out and I report it to RFL and he’s now banned as a ref too
