First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can.
“Up The Comics !”

The Leopards are Roaring : Fri Mar 10, 2023 9:44 pm
Listening to the game on Radio Manchester by a pool in Mexico.
Getting a few funny looks and a slap or two from Mrs VL. What a comeback. Sounds like we had the better of the second half by quite a measure.
I was at the last win against Saints in 2017 with my Dad, and I put a quick word into my Dad and all the heavenly Leythers to blow a fair wind and work a miracle or two.
Well done to everyone at the club.

What a game, wow. This was not a fluke and everyone worked hard tonight. It all came right in the 2nd half and was helped again by poor Saints discipline (2nd week running).

I just want to go on record and apologise about any bad words I might have written (thought) about our veteran wingers. Josh Charnley is playing like a man possessed.

Well done Leigh, I have not felt this euphoric since the AB Sundeck Final.

I can’t speyke. I always record the super league and watch it in the afternoon with a beer or two. Watching Hudds v CAS and the score keeps popping up. When they went 12 nil up I thought poop, but this team digs in big time. To beat Saints 20 nil second half speaks volumes. We will give Wire there biggest game this season. Massive well done to all. Up the Leopards.

I thought that the club was magnificent last night. Quite rightly we gave due respect to St Helens' superb achievement in becoming World Club Champions - nice touch DB!

The game itself was brutal at times but mostly fair - it was just played hard, just as it should be - and, in that second half performance, our team just blew away the World Champions . Yes, for those not there, read those words and believe them.

Anyone from other clubs who still think of this club as a joke - please take note. We are clearly not here to make up the numbers and be the butt of jokes any longer. Super League watch out!

I do not think that I have been to a game and come away afterwards ever feeling more proud to be a supporter of this great club. What a night, what a game, what a result!

Just a quick word on Josh Charnley - Love Rugby League stated "In-form Charnley
The Leigh star is one of the in-form wingers in the competition right now.

Prior to Round Four of Super League getting underway, Charnley was the league’s leader metre maker, averaging 190 metres in the first three games.

And he continued his good form against Saints, finishing off a fine passing move in the corner. If he carries on this form, then he could be in Shaun Wane’s England plans for the mid-season test against France."

Having watched the highlights, the try he made was superb, requiring strength and speed to cut back against the grain to force his way over.

To a man the squad played well.

This may sound smug, it isn't meant to be, but I felt even going in 12-0 down at half-time that we were playing better than Saints and we'd bombed quite a few chances and Saint were their usual clinical selves in taking advantage of our sloppy plays.

In the second half, I felt Saint were kept pretty anonymous.

Amone is a rock, I've always like Ben and last season he did seem to get better and stronger as a game/season went on. Ava was great, it was only Mulhern I had doubts about as having watched him in the Irish world cup squad he struck me as just another big body, but he did some great carries yesterday.

Ipape's hit on Walmsley was worth the price of admission alone.

T'Pau were good value for money too.

Wire are another beast to try and wrestle with, onwards and upwards.

My only criticism - no tries scored in front on the North Stand! Come on lads, something to work on.

Yes, but 4 tries all scored in front of the disbelieving hordes from St Helens. This was not lost on Charnley, Hardaker and Shorrocks when they went over.

Poor Briscoe, new to this particular piece of local rivalry, was probably wondering what all the fuss was about.

That was something special. To nil saints for 60 minutes was epic. This team hasn’t gelled yet, but you can see the combinations coming together. We’re still pushing too hard in some areas of attack, and we’ve not fully worked things out. However, if we keep defending like demons then we’ll continue winning games and we should get better and better with the ball in hand.

Things are looking positive and I think next week at Warrington will be a very interesting test for this team. Might have come a little too soon for us to win it, but I’m not writing us off.
