1963 & 1982 for starters.
So, in 53 & 34 years since those 2 teams there has been no advancement in player size, technique, fitness, speed or stamina ? Let alone advances in coaching, structure, plays etc ?
Come on reffy ..... have a word.
These players we have now * in the forwards * (and backs) are far superior to any that have gone before.
I am too young to know about the 63 side & only remember the 82 side through a young lad of 11's eyes *& yes 82 was a very good year* but like anything you can care to mention, cars, technology, household appliances, times change, things progress, develop & improve, same with humans & athletes.
Those players of 63 & 82 couldn't cope against this current team, forwards or backs.
Only John Woods, Des Drummond & Mick Stacey stand out immediately as special *there will be a few others I know less of*, maybe Ray Tabern & Steve Donlan, Alex Murphy (in his day) was fantastic but even he would be overshadowed back to back with a modern day equivalent.
Forwards, who is better than Patterson, Weston, Hansen, Matuia, Hock, Spencer, MoiMoi, Hopkins, Emmit & Barlow from 63, or 82 ?
You'll be telling me that thick, fat lump Tim Street was World Class next.
