Am I Rugby Leagues Adrian Durham?

Re: 19 man squad v Swinton : Sun Aug 04, 2019 4:21 pm
Well that’s 80 minutes of my life I will never get back! Really poor in defence especially on our left hand edge. To make a team like Swinton look that good is worrying. We should be looking to have put 50 on them if we are serious about being a top 3 contender. Let’s hope we up our game against Rochdale next week. There are not many free hits at this time of the season and we need to take advantage of them when they come along. Come on Leigh step it up!

I think you are being more than a bit disrespectful to Swinton: they play good rugby, have real pace where we don't and have had some excellent recent results (clearly no flukes). It was always going to be a tough game for Leigh coming off a very draining defeat last week (just ask Widnes) against a team which had had a week off which is always a big bonus at this time of year. Admittedly we had a very poor first half but credit to the way we applied relentless pressure in the second half to turn it around. Not pretty by any means but effective enough in the end.

The truth is C&W, we can only plan for next season in the championship. what We can try to do is enjoy the run in,in this seasons play offs.

We played a get out of jail card here, no doubt about that.

Second week running the opposition had far more effective half backs than us, although to be fair it's the second week running that Ridyard having missed training , had to take an injection to play.

Swintons 7 , Fairclough, was outstanding IMO but the lack of imagination and creativity in the Leigh side for whatever varying reason is extremely worrying.

Luckily for us then that Danny Craven should be here and on board in time for the play offs.

If he played as good as he moaned and whinged, he would be a world beater

Looking at today positively:-

Full marks to Swinton for some imaginative, confident rugby, played at pace.

Also, full marks to Leigh, for digging in and grinding out the result, in the second half.  Yet another highly compelling 80 minutes at LSV.

Once again, the other results didn't go our way - although they were all very close, like ours. Hopefully, next week, a win at Rochdale (usually another high scoring, close game) and we could be second.

I would still remind myself, and others, where we were before this season started!

Spot on Al.

That first half Swinton showed what pace can do and some poor tackling off us made me wonder whats happening?

That second half, Duffy obviously read them the riot act and the difference was unbelivable, aggression and tempo was greatly increased and Swinton could not live with us - Well done to Leigh

All in all a very entertaining game throughout and well done to Swinton for not just turning up but making a game of it.

Thought that number 34 for them had a cracking game (dont know who he was)
