A little bit flawed as an idea to have an on field play off. There has been no training, no games, no Covid testing protocols a la Super League & nobody to pay for it's implementation !
You got there first, Ste. Will just point out in addition that Toronto's expulsion was announced on November 2nd, ie the day after an awful lot of contracts expired. The proposed play-offs might have seen a good few clubs unable to muster a matchday seventeen - of whatever fitness. Also, by the time all the preparations were made and all the C-19 boxes ticked, the 2021 might have been almost upon us with all the teams involved having been unable to plan or budget for the actual flight in which they would find themselves after said process.
Sorry, Doc, whilst your desire to shy away from inconsistency that you fear would be interpreted as hypocrisy is laudable, the fact is that a Super League team folded at a time when the whole sport (not to mention the rest of society) was facing the most exceptional set of circumstances since WW2. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.
Why TWP were not kicked out following the previous meeting a month prior to November 2nd, at which point some (but just SOME) of the issues above could have been avoided, is now moot. Prevarication on the part of TWP's owner or of the eleven other SL chairmen, or was it the bl00dy lawyers as usual?
A premeditated and altogether more sinister plot should be left to the conspiracy theorists.
