I think the problem when you don't get a reason for someone leaving it creates huge speculation and unrest right across the board with Players, staff, spectators and sponsors wondering what is going on.
In Pauls press release it states nothing and in the clubs the same, unfortunately sports people are in the public eye so when they leave without a reason (no matter how private that reason is) its hits the sports business and right now Leigh are being hit very hard with speculation, indeed the latest rumour of Brierley is based on what a contract supposedly says.
For me I'm very much once a person has left a club or business that they are gone and not worth the energy worrying about why as you have to look forward, the fact they have started its private would do for me and of course you thank the individuals wish them well and make sure whatever it is they may have is sorted as best you can be you go forward with your business positively and quickly.
In sport I suppose its a little different and the sparseness of the press release from Paul and the club to pin it to a reason (without being specific) will maybe need looking at by Paul and our chairman in the next 24 hours as its a big news story and at the moment it is damaging for the club which is what neither party would want.
Even a 'this is purely Paul looking after his family at this time' or 'Paul had decided he had gone as far as he could with Leigh' would be better than the 'its private' in the age of media intrusion that effects the standing of sports clubs even though its incredibly sad that a simple 'I'm going' can't just be accepted as one of those things in this day in age.
