So he's definitely our player until the end of the season, but we haven't got a fee for him? Is there anything to stop Wigan wanting him to play for them on dual reg this season?
He's our player to the end of the season and we've received a fee.
Its sad to see Hoppy leave but just shows what was predicted all along, and what a great player he is. I think he will follow the footsteps of Hilly and be playing international level very soon. Also its fantastic news we've got a fee for him, and that shows the respect our club is being given, in that clubs aren't just coming and sweeping players from our grasp. Well done to the new board and all concerned for what appears to be good running of a club heading in the right direction.
Oh and where has this talk come from of lisa having shares and running club suddenly come from?? I thought it was an independent association in where fans raise money and put it into the club we love?? Nothing else
In my opinion the club is looking in the best state its been for a good while, and the new BOD, community department, youth structure, and all backroom staff are doing a great job. Why try and throw any spanners in the works, and maybe upset people who are doing a great job in best interests of our club? No wonder new investors seem frightened to get involved in our great club...
Couldn't find much good news for Leigh and our short term plans in a press release that talks about the player, Shaun Wane and Wigan's good news but what about Leigh Centurions ?
How much did we get for a contracted Leigh player and what's happening with a replacement, have we lined one up , are we looking at throwing a youngster up the ranks, what exactly ?
Why do we need all that information only days after the press release?. In the interview with Derek on LCTV he clearly states that the board and Paul have already started to identify prospective signings for next year. Let them get on with running the club and give them a bit of time to sort things out. How many weeks have they been in the job? I don't think it has got anything to do with any fan - even ones like myself who contribute to LISA - what the club has got for Sam.

You're one of us, part of our culture, writing our history as you create your own, and making us stronger for it....
He's signed a two year deal with a one year option.....so once the governing body have decided what the format will be for 2015 onwards, we will know if we are 'in the mix' of the 12-8-12 league, or a return to straightforward P&R - in which case we'd probably need to win our way out.
If we start 2015 in "SDL2", he can re-join us the following season in "SDL1", or if we have to win promotion from Championship in a '1up 1down' league set-up it might take us a little longer, so he can exercise the 3rd year option on his contract then join us the year after!! Simples!!
Just out of interest - when is Hilly out of contract at Wire??

The good news is that Leigh is still capable of producing players of world class ability. To me this proves that Leigh is still a rugby town. Not as much as when I was a lad maybe, but still a hot bed of talent. With the good news today about Leigh East we look certain to continue bringing through youngsters from both East and Miners. Leigh Centurions need to continue the good work they are doing with these youngsters and all the coaches, amateur and professional should be proud of the job they're doing in continuing to produce top players. Let's hope one day they are playing for us in SL ad they're not leaving for Warrington or Wigan. But for now lets be proud and wish them luck.
