Ashes retained by the Wizards of Oz but England seem to have made a fist of it on Day Two of the final test.
This, fellahs, is a placemarker for the Round 27 summary - still working stupid hours....watch this space!

And here's the edit - about two exhausting months later:
ROUND TWENTY-SEVEN ROUND-UPVery belated, for which a thousand apologies.
Fev lost at P.Off. Road (bit of Bernard Cribbins in Fawlty Towers – for Vanners).
FOURseen by Budge (5pts), ‘Tommers (10pts – Joker played), Zools (65pts – exact scoreline
) & Pubbers (5pts – and his Jokermon alive and kicking). The Jokermons of EVVO, Bongser & Wanderer, however, fell at the first hurdle.
Let’s get this out of the way. The Kanata people continued to put the Indian sign on Leigh. Rule O had been applied and so Bongser zilched out along with the absent CL . Five apiece to all others bar Atomic whose second Joker doubled his score for that match to ten. Pubbers’ Jokermon still on!
Chayders deigned to join us for the Sunday Kos. Barrow beat the ‘Dogs and 5pts went to each of ‘Tommers, Vanners, Zools, Chazzer, Pubbers, Bongser & CL. EVVO’s Joker went for a burton and Wanderer was also nilled. Pubbers’ Jokermon still on!
Widnes triumphed at Dewsbury. This time the two “C’s” scored a duck (ie no points to Eider!). 5 to all else save Atomic & Zools who scored 10 (Jokers played – good round for you two) and Budgie who smuggled out 15pts with a correct margin. Pubbers’ Jokermon still on!
Another away win at ‘Fax where the home side were put to the lance. Atomic failed to convert the fourth out of four on his Jokerfest, also missing out were Budge & Pubbers – the latter’s Jokermon up in smoke. 5pts to the others bar EVVO & Chayders, correct margin 15 apiece.
Full house on The Bulls’ goring Roch-bottom (the latter’s Round One cancellation being one of their top results this season). 5 fer 5, but courtesy of Jokers, 10 each for VL, Zools, Charles, Chayders & Evvo. CL was closest on the margin – a mere 34pts out!!! The only one to predict a nil score for ‘Dale was ‘Tommers.
Lastly we see that The Swine trounced early season high fliers, The Eagles (that failed to Take It to the Limit). Missing out were Bongser, Budge, EVVO & Donnymon. 5pts to the rest bar Chayders whose joker gave him the extra five.
BBQ? 238 was the aggregate score in the five Sunday matches. Salvaging something from a poor round was Bongser who was one out for 25pts, Budgers three (18), Charlie four (15). Chayders, 84 out, picks up the singleton.
All of which means that Zools can add a (Canada? – probably won’t need to grouse about that country next season!) WWB of 25pts to his round’s score of 115. Second was Atomic on 53 meaning that Zools effectively had it in the bag after the first Saturday game. This week’s lignified eating utensil goes to a South Yorkshire mantelpiece.

So Zools up into the podium places but,
Danger UXB! Time capsules:
The question “Which team will slip out of SL at the end of the season?” was posed twice, the first time for 50pts, the second for 25. All assembled went for London initially and stuck to their guns when cross examined. 75 points to all bar Budge who hadn’t joined us at those points. Commiserations to The Broncos after they made a damn good fist of it in SL (including beating Saints home and away).
No change in positions there then.
The other time capsule that was disinterred after Round 27 did lead to one positional change though. “What position in the table will Leigh occupy after the Championship games?” At first point of asking only Vanners, Wanners & Bongser opted correctly for 4th. 50 points to those three. All then gathered stuck to their guns at the second time of asking bar CL who played Mike Reid’s “Runaround” but didn’t quite jump far enough. A further 25pts to VL, Donners & B&Blitzen.
