As well as making more work for himself, Bongser's Monday bonus question seems to have caused some head scratching, not so much at the answer but wtf is the question. Perhaps this will help.
Bongser made a set of predicted results for Friday's games and another for Monday's games. If he takes the Championship table and imagines that all his predictions were bang on, he could work out that (in that scenario), Leigh would be in sixth position come Tuesday morning.
Were Bongser to do the same with (picking one out of his titfer) Atomic's double set of predicted results, that would see Leigh in fifth position on Tuesday.
Geddit?
He has done it for all your double predictions and here are your (inadvertent in some cases) bonus punts for this weekend's second round:
Leigh in 5th: Atomic, The Publican & Zulu01 Leigh in 6th: Bongser, Charlie, Cokey, Wanderer & Westleighjim Leigh in 9th: Jack Diggle
It doesn't matter (well, not as far as the WPL goes) what happened on Friday or what happens on Monday (you may gain on a swing but lose on a roundabout), but if Leigh end up in 5th on Tuesday, A, P & Z GET THE POINTS. End up in 6th, it'll be B, C, C, W & W. In 7th or 8th - zilch all round. In 9th and Jack is the scooper and Bongser will be a Dutchman's uncle!
a) Bongser was not at the Swinton game, can see no word of any cards in the three or four match reports, but would like confirmation that Friday's correct bonus answer should be "none". Wind-ups will earn minus 50 points.
b) Bongser seemingly has/had a (long time dead) distant uncle who was, indeed, a Dutchman!!

Sorry I was giving a UK Yorkshire nephew a taste of West Coast Vancouver wilderness on his visit here, so missed Friday’s round. He’s now gone back to Leeds (yes my brother defected many years ago !) with a great appreciation for Canada and a sound piece of advise to emigrate back to at least Leyth (if not here).
Well Friday’s preds were a bit of a Bertie Bassett. Amongst the matches there were three clean sweeps on the victors (Leigh, Batley & Halifax) and very nearly three total wipe outs in the others. These bus crashes were saved by, firstly, (league leader) Atomic predicting a loss for London, by Cokey predicting a win for the Trannies (in case anyone hasn’t heard and before the lawyers get involved, they are the first TRANSatlantic Rugby blah blah) and by both Charlie & Wanderer opting for a win for the Hornets.
Correct margins were a rarity. Atomic (again) got one in the Batley vs Dewsbury tie and both Wanderer (again) and Bongser in Leigh’s match.
Until the last round when Atomic broke the mould, we’d had no bang-on scores but it seems they’re like buses, you wait forever then yadda yadda.... Bongser got the Leigh score plumb. Like the last game, the last score of the match came a long time before the hooter. Bongser wonders if Atomic was also momentarily torn between the usual “score more Leythe” and slight yearning for the hooter. Bongser made himself think about the possibility of point difference making the difference between top four or a slide into obscurity come the end of the season and opted to shun the dark side. Sadly that put the kibosh on any further additions.
Four of the posters opted for “none” on the bonus question and received 15 pts. Yours truly is therefore the WW (+25) but that leaves last week’s League Leader, Atomic, still in charge and (acknowledge the crowd) now a double centurion!!
Three maiden centurions in Cokey, Jack Diggle and, eventually, Westleighjim who Syd Rumpo here had down as still blocking and awaiting the right ball as he remained in the nervous nineties (99) until, during a comfort break from Syd’s ramblings and with brain in hand, he realised that he had forgotten to factor in the one point attendance bonus. So three more raises of the bat.
Tonight’s standings then:
1) Atomic – 210 2) Bongser – 197 3) Charlie – 169
Will this continue in alphabetical order? Err, nope!
Vancouver has rejoined us for Monday’s game. His bonus, extrapolated from his Monday preds being applied to tonight’s Championship Table, sees him join the “Leigh in Sixth” club. He cannot now though have a winning bonus trebled.
Let us all hope that Atomic, Publican & Zulu get the bonus tomorrow night. Go Leythe!
