Me thinks some people are looking for excuses not to buy ST here.
A team made up of some of the most exciting players we have had for many many a year, who could win this league blindfolded and without a coach.
And what exactly do you expect the club to say, the coach has resigned for personal reasons that he does not wish to disclose - could be any one of a number of reasons (heard a good few rumours) but surely the fans and the club need to respect that.
PR felt he had to go, so be it - onwards and upwards, go buy your season ticket and support the club you love and enjoy the ride
I think you have it spot on there Col.
The coach states that he resigned for 'personal' reasons, and we must respect that. Whilst there has been a bit of debate with the owner about going unbeaten and winning the Challenge Cup ( ) both he and the owner seem to have been working closely together and singing from the same him sheet very recently. Nowhere is there any hint of a fall-out with the owner, or BOD. 'Personal' presumably means just that - 'personal', and we have no divine right to know those reasons, however 'entitled' we feel! I'm sad to see him go, possibly so close to fulfilling his desire to take the club into SL, but I for one, support him in his decision, and hope that he can soon sort out his 'personal' issues and be back in the Sport he loves, pursuing a highly promising career.
As fans, our job is simple, and just the same as it was last week - to support our club and whoever gets the coaching job.

I agree totally Alan & Col, I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me & have so many questions, just imagine what its like "behind the scenes" at the club & they have to take action (the right action) whilst fending off sponsors, fans , media and employees all demanding to know why & what you gonna do !.
It's a free country and yet again people are getting bagged for their personal decisions. Nothing changes. So if anyone has anything in any way negative that they wish to say, probably best not to do it on here.
..and my reasons have nothing to do with Paul Rowleys no doubt very difficult decision to resign and I fully respect his wishes that his reasons are personal.
I would like to know that we have a committed team and that we are financially sound. I will be at Batley and every other game this season that I can. At this moment would prefer to pay as I go than stump it up up front. If I go to every game the club wins anyway, I'm not fussed about £40.
No one has bagged anyone Derek it is merely a difference of opinion and no mallice intended. Your comment actually contradicts it's self, inferring that I shouldn't express my opinion of someone else's comment.

Irrespective of how much influence the owner exerts on the club, I don't think we can say that it's at the expense of being a 'Community' club. The club appears to be highly involved with the local community amateur clubs and local charities. And, didn't we win the 'Championship Community Club of the Year' award last season?
I was thinking more in the context of joint ownership of the club rather than community involvement. I guess this part of the thread is off topic now...I just feel Single ownership of any sports club has its good and bad points...you take your choice i suppose. I suppose I'm responding to some posts suggesting DB has undue influence on signings and overriding the coach. I have no idea if that is the case with Leigh, but it would be a conclusion some could draw given the sole owner.
So we lost to the worst team in Super League, when they had 2 injuries..... And Rowley is a mastermind coach?
People are getting caught up on titles, not losing a game all year, getting far in the challenge cup and signing Moi Moi doesnt get you into Super League.....
No I haven't blown it away, you never had one, and you also beat the worst team in SL at their ground, who at the time did not have any injuries, which contradicts your clearly weighted with sarcasm remark about Rowley being a mastermind, your obvious delight at Rowley's on/off field problems are your concern not mine, I'm just pointing out your clumsy effort to prove your point against him by fabricating false facts regarding my club. HTH
Have any players commented on twitter about Paul Rowley's departure ? Best wishes/sad to see you go...etc. Don't think so....Surely if it wasn't something, how can i put it (dodgy/controversial) surely they would have by now. Or has Derek B told them not too say anything ? the mind boggles !
