In the above interview with Simon Grix, Cas are in D/R with York, and 'Fax are looking for a deal with someone else in SL, as well as Hunslet, in the other direction. A few points come to mind from that interview:-
- Grix talks about having a squad of 28/29 players. I wonder how many we are going with? - If you are looking for D/R with SL, but your squad is so big that you are having to loan out players, to League 1, why do you need to bring D/R's in from SL?! - How seriously will the SL teams be taking the reserves competition? - 'Fax were in partnership with Cas last season, but Cas's injury problems limited their ability to send players to 'Fax. The SL clubs' attitude to DR, was one of the things that did for us, at the end of last season, when Saints wanted all their squad for cover in the play-offs.

Looks like the D/R system is very much alive & kicking in 2020 Col.

As I've commented many times around TotalRL forums, the return of reserves isn't going to bring DR to an end. The U19s have been replaced by U18s, and I'd expect to see plenty of last year's U19s, plus those players who would have been eligible for the U19s this year but not the U18s, making up reserve teams. For example, the likes of Callum McLelland, if they don't make the Leeds 1st team, are much more likely to be made available to Fev than asked to play in front of 150 people for the reserves (just as McLelland played for Fev last season rather than Leeds academy).
Only for it to be replaced by the Manfredi rumour......
In some ways I could see the logic of that, as he's coming back from a serious injury, and has probably slipped down the pecking order at Wigan. However, we only recently signed Adam Higson and Ryan Ince. Now, if Wigan had a spare scrum half - like say, Sammut, for instance ( ) that would be better!

Wigan have a plethora *just wanted to use that word* of wingers, at least 6 first team choices (minus Davies if he goes to Les Cats) so I really could see Leigh lad Dom Manfredi coming home for a season at least, after all, Wigan did lose £1.5M last season & they will possibly be looking to recoup or at least cut losses

I doubt very much Leigh would be paying his full wage. So the loss "cap wise" to Wigan would be very marginal.

If it is correct that Leigh/Beaumont has been talking to Gigot then they can certainly afford Dom Manfredi, after all he has had 2 or 3 major lay offs to injury & is probably not on Wigan's starting 17.
*is he now fit/injury free* ?
Edit.
By which I mean Leigh could probably afford to pay his full wage, saving the Crusty Pie Munchers valuable £££ & cap space.
