If I could have most of that week in week out, win, lose or draw, I would go home entertained and happy in the knowledge that we did our best.

I wont get too carried away as Widnes are poor, however, our defence and working at the PTB stopped Widnes for most of the match getting on a roll which is their game and we made them look pretty average.

On reflection and after watching the game again Hobson did play his part at times, he did score a vital "try" by following the ball from the great little kick through but Meekin would be a better option if fit. I think he would have relished that game today.

Also, Wingy did more than I first thought and I think people got a little restless when both he and Hobson spilled the ball a couple of times when in Widnes terriotory. You have to take into consideration the conditions and some credit to some good Widnes hits, especially Smiths on Hobson.

Watsons kicking was both poor and good at times so overall was average but he keeps going and organising and making the plays and tackles . I am not saying "Bazza" and "Tez" (can you believe these two at times) are the brightest of folk, but both have played the game at the very highest level so must know a thing or two about Rugby League and what is required as a player and they could not praise Watson enough on his overall play. That must count for something.

We got what we deserved and the better team on the night won.

Cracking game to watch and at least both teams showed passion and pride and to be honest, that's all I ever ask.

Though that's not what my missus thought when we kept blowing opportunities

Contrary to some, I didn't think Widnes were poor, especially after 20 minutes. The game could have easily gone their way!

I feared a hammering after the first 20 minutes and Widnes certainly didn't look a bad side at that point. Think it speaks volumes for the character of the Leigh side to come back from such a bad start and stop Widnes from even having a sniff thereafter.

Was a bit disappointed with the size of the crowd (maybe a few were put off by the traffic), but the ones that turned up certainly made themselves heard.

In Hobsons defence the second knock on was down to a very good tackle from Smith and he did follow the kick and score our 1st try.

After weve built up all this momentum weve now got 2 games in the next 6 weeks! Cheers to the RFL for that!

They were not poor but in general they are a poor to average side. We made them look the way they did and thats all taht matters

Plus 'fax at home, (when they sort out a date!) and away, in the NRC quarter final on 7th June.
