Another win for Leigh and, with Trannies beating Tools, The Centurions’ fate is finally back in their own hands for the first time in too long. Good to see you other eight walkers on it like Graham Bonnet with all of you in by Friday, and a relief for thine host that he roused himself from slumber in time to beat the deadline.
5 out of nine attendees plumped for the weekend’s opening winners and there was a clean sweep on the Leigh victory. Atomic was one of the four erroneously to back les crapauds but (ignoring bonuses for now) more than made up for it with a bob on Leigh margin – point ahead of the field.
Two freakish 22 all ding-dong-draws poked the mon in th’ee (no points there). Bongser was internally yelling for Dewsbury to nab it at the end at The Shay as he’s aware that, as we concentrate on catching those above us, ‘Fax (with a game in hand) are still sticking to the bottom of our shoe! The point that they garnered means that we are still not “truly” ahead of them.
The other two Sunday results (spirited first 30 from Sheffield but, alas, then a runaway loss) saw clean sweeps again.
Three posters nailed the “Total Points from Boots” bonus with a correctly predicted 18, so five points apiece to, in order of posting, Cokey, Charlie & Zools. Sadly none of the three converted their tries. However the latter two were correct predictors on the four non-draws and are this week’s joint winners – an extra 25 points apiece! Avatar-wise, it’s the black and white minstrel show. Congrats to both.
Standings? A power shift at the top! After who knows how many rounds as King of the Castle (Bongser will look it up and edit it in soon), Atomic is deposed (for now at least) by the previous Cock o’t’ schoo’. So going into the Seaside Special the leader and Brian Lar’IAN quadruple centurion (bat routine) is the fellah whose secondary stomping ground it is:
1. Charlie on 409
2. Atomic on 394
3. Pubbers on 341
4. Don Wan on 327
5. Zools on 317
6. WLJ on 297
7. Bongser on 288
8. Cokey on 270
9. Ludwig van Leyther on 205
10. Jacky D on 112
11. LeytherX111 on 98
12. SaBadSel on 20
So Bongser slips another place. He also suffered in foreign pred-lands. Could the present incumbent of fourth spot please enlighten him as to what exactly went on in the last half an hour at The Keepmoat? Ouch!! Mind you, nobody (hethinks) predicted that.
And (never begin a sentence yada) that’s the beauty of our little game.
Barring corrections or correctional institutionalisation for Bongser, the ‘Ave a Bashers will be out tomorrow.
