Rowley left Toronto the season before they gained promotion, McDermott was the coach the season when they secured promotion, and as I eluded to his contribution to Salford was immense in an assistants role in SL, to me that is his level in SL, as a very very good offensive assistant, not as a head coach.
There are a few good assistants knocking about in SL e.g. Lee Briers, Sean Long, Keiron Purtill who have yet to take the heads responsibility's woukd you say they are not SL coaches?

I would say they have been around SL coaches. Yet none are proven at that level. Even Purtill. They are all number 2’s or 3’s.
The level of your club that you are playing at determines what level of coach is required. Does it not?
A 70 year old fella threw a team together with 2 training sessions and beat England tonight .
That’s experience at that level.
