Apologies for straying off topic but for anybody interested.
There is 1 big triangle. 16 small triangles. Any others must be in 3's. meaning the total must be 17,20,23,29,29 etc.

Not really off-topic.The point being everybody views logic differently.Cokey got it right.

27 triangles.

There are 16 one-cell triangles, 7 four-cell triangles, 3 nine-cell triangles, and 1 sixteen-cell triangle.
