| Funerals are a sad times but I have my music already picked out. All upbeat stuff.
We walked out of the Crem at my Dads to “Bring Me Sunshine”. Me and my brother broke out into the exit skip Morcambe and Wise did at the end of the show as soon as we left the doors. It brought a smile to ours and everyone else’s faces, and I know my Dad would have been laughing also.
“Live long and prosper” in the next life Frank. No fixed income up there.

Captain’s Log, Stardate: (eeerrrrm) Today - wouldn’t flush!
There were however a good few flushes later on. More on that later.
Let’s begin with the first couple of games as set in the order of the puntables – both odd (as in uneven) margins. Spock would have approved as they were were logically numerical in a way that Bongser will highlight in red paint.
A Barrovian drop goal scuppered Bongser walking away with the points in this round. An unlikely second one would have seen Wanderer take the baton cleanly. No correct margins. =#FF0000SIX punters correctly called a home win. Pubbers, ‘Tommers & Vanners left in the abovementioned’s wakes (though it seems wakes can be quite jolly).
A second home win at Dewsbury and by a much wider margin than presaged by any of the assembled. However this win was augured by =#FF0000SEVEN. Pubbers ducked the away win this time but Vanners & ‘Tommers bit the bullet (phasers?) again. No correct margins.
Tight game at Fev. Looked like it would reach HT at 0-0 before late, converted tries were exchanged. More tension early doors in the latter 40 until Rovers finally found the warp drive pedal. No correct margins were again prophesied but we were up to =#FF0000EIGHT authenticated seers. Atomic (our glorious leader, Bongser will remind you) was in danger (after foreseeing three away victories) of reaching critical mass. Diana Ross and The Bee Gees were warming up in the wings to sing “Chain Reaction”.
Thankfully, Scotty got through to him just in time with the words,
“Ah cannae hold her! She’s breaking up!” Atomic withdrew his thermopile (much to Scotty’s undoubted relief) and, despite the loss of many , Doctor Kieron “Bones” McCoy managed to patch up enough of the remainder to man the bridge and get the shields raised again. Full set of =#FF0000NINE bona fide astrologers this time around, though no correct margins.
As to the BBQs, all again correctly went for Leigh at HT (bar Jacobus of Westleythian extraction) but no one nailed the margin there either. Pubbers was closest with 16 but he didn’t reach even halfway to 34. Great performance by the lads (it would seem) and there can be no quibble with the damaged shields shipping just 6 points (though the resultant shockwave sent many on the good ship flying from wall to wall in a choreographed manner and made most of the scenery shake.) Thankfully Owens nailed the last conversion to avoid a diabolical scoreline. Congratulations to Mitch Cox on a debut try. Huzzay!
Back to flushes and as we (Bongser here uses the Royal Flush “We”) were speaking of debutants and their maiden scores for Leythe, welcome again to Chayders. A promising Pokemon on your first start. Rum Below. Huzzay!!
However there were five others amidst we pigs (bring back Leigh Razorbacks – they were funnier than The Tower Circus) bought a Poke.
So to this week’s scores (that obviously also count as the standings in the new Mid8s) in numerical order but with the fresher at the top (Jean Luc told Bongser to “Make it so!”) This includes the multiple WWB of 25 apiece for the five leaders:
Chayders on 56
Chukkas on 56
Obi – Wan – Derer (yeah, sod it) on 56
Lieutenant Zulu (now you see) on 56
Bonkers on 56
Tights at the top (but Uhura preferred stockings – they made Spock’s ears prick up).
Jabobus on 29
Pubbers on 9
Vanners on 7
‘Tommers on 5
Bad week for the lastmentioned (how much did you wager on Fax?) He does, however have some belting weeks and therefore has been Kling' o' the heap for most of this season.
Let’s beam up to The Super8s.
Aaaargh!! Bongser just felt a shift in The Force (he’s mixing his metaphors again), like all too few souls crying out at once.
Standings:
Wanderers on 721
Chazzers on 718
Tommers on 713
Zools on 667 (narrow escape there Lt)
Pubbers on 657
Bonkers on 615
Jacobus on 473 (got off the quadruple Nelson there WLJ but it still gave you a gnat’s nudger of bad luck). Well done to Anderson & Broad btw (Bongser has it on good authority that they read this thread for motivation).
Cokey on 468
Vanners Whaler on 408
Diggers on 114
LX111 on 98
SaBadSel on 22
So, that about wraps it up for another mission. Bongser would like to thank everybody involved and therefore will leave you with these closing credits:

Hope he would have, Charlie, but time and tide and all that... There is (or was, Bongser doesn't get down to the Bedford area of Leigh much since his grandparents died) a garden of remembrance (now probably mainly populated by druggies and dealers), but....
"To Bond Street go, where..."
Without further ado, we move onto this weekend's puntabules:
Batley XX-YY Dewsbury
Leigh XXX-Y Barrow
Rochdale XX-YY Featherstone
Swinton XX-YY Sheffield
BBQ? At the same kick-off time we see London vs stricken Leeds. Nail all five winners for double points.
"Summat tells me I'm into Sammut good!"
As ever, good luck.
Go Leythe!

| I would like to thank BnB for doing 2 sets of scores now the 8s have started. I have been telling myself for weeks that the only reason I am at the low end, ok last, of the season standings is that’s I have missed a week or two. That theory is clearly demonstrated in the new standings

| Late notice folks, Zools PMed Bongser with the below on Monday. Spotted on Wednesday but didn’t have sober time to post earlier. Most of the usual suspects will not be expecting a WPL round this week and (whilst Bongser will PM the troops) some may not see it in time. As it would not be fair to season long attenders not seeing this post (No’ a lo’ o’ people knew tha’) and with so many points on offer at an unexpected time, it is therefore proposed that this is our stand alone Challenge Cup (Initial &icon_wink.gif Final (sponsored by Zools )

Bongser
Got an idea for next week C/Cup final
100 points on offer
30 points for the time of the first points e.g.
If I say 12 minutes and it is 12 minutes = 30 points
if its 11 minutes or 13 minutes = 25 points
if its 10 minutes or 14 minutes = 20 points
and so on, so scoring would be between
7 minutes = 5 points / 17 minutes = 5 points
same as for the last points
first points time = 30 points, last points time = 30 points
60 points
secondly
5 points for the winning team at half time and 5 points for the winning team at full time
10 points
10 points for first scorer / 10 points for last scorer
20 points
thats 90 points up to now
10 points for correct score / margin
100 points in total! '"
Bongser will be avec beverage in The Towers tomorrow afty and will judge all timings relevant to the above, from Auntie’s clock. If, to use Zools’ example, “12 mins” is nominated, 12 mins dead to 12 mins & 59 secs will be acceptable.
As indicated above, these points will count only in deciding OUR C/Cup Champion.

| As the first two of you to post haven't mentioned a TIME for the last score, perhaps Bongser has misread Zools' rools. But he'll be posting one just in case. He will also be making other predictions!!
Edits before KO please gentlemen.
It's not easy this lark, is it Zools?
Go eeerrm. You decide!
