Summary!



Eight in attendance (nine if you count Bongser’s accidental double post). Atomic, despite a late call to arms, went AWOL and blew his 100% attendance record. It was a bad choice of week to miss as can be seen below.



Bar-Swi: Seven correctly went for a home victory, Chayders chose to differ. No exact scores and no correct margins.



Bat-She: eeerrrm…the same!



Fev-Dew: Clean sweep on home. Still no exact scores or margins though.



So to the Leigh game away at bottom of the heap Rochdale. Not a convincing win by any stretch of even Bongser’s imagination but an away win clean sweep nonetheless. No exact score-lines but in this match Chayders did at least show that he knows his Graham Onions by nailing the squeaky

margin.



He continued his perked up form by, along with Wanderer, correctly calling thirty tries as the BBQ answer. Five points apiece. No silver medal therefore awarded though three share the bronze award with a point each, they being Charlie, Vanners & Zools. Those late extras for CL were small beer when there were 20 point pokemon pots for all others present.

New meaning to post haste!!

Bongser has mentioned opera before during this thread but will risk the wrath of the rockers once more by informing the gathered that there is a lesser known opera by an Amer-Italian composer, one Gian Carlo Menotti, that features an aria entitled “To This We’ve Come.”



To this we’ve come! At the beginning of the season the only win we had under NJ was AT Batley – now they’re stuffing us at LSV.



Whilst Leigh Centurions were depleted, the WPL was back up to its usual recent strength with the return of Atomic. All bar one went for a Leigh victory but the Centurions choked. Was Darth Caroli holding his thumb and middle finger closely together – no emperor to say “Release them, Lord Vader”? Bongser does not want to give away too much of the plot of the original “Star Wars” trilogy in case any of the assembled has not already watched it ad nauseum.



The point is that (in the order that the puntables were posted) Charlie stole a march.



There is another opera, this time by Gounod (one of many based on the Faustian legend) wherein Faust makes a pact with Mephistopheles and sells his soul in exchange for a multitude of corporeal pleasures. Dance with the Devil and he will call the tune (as the saying goes).



The point this time is that Charlie got his comeuppance.



Most (six) went for Rochdale to make a defiant fist against Dewsbury and were proved correct. Missing out were CC, alongside our glorious leader, Wanderer & WLJ. Johnny come lately, however, nailed the margin to boot and, as a result, Cheadle Leyther led us into the third round.



Only three of us saw Barrow prevailing away at Sheffield. Both Wanderer & WLJ redeemed themselves and thine host also called it (as will become clear he was the only one to correctly call three out of four this week, much good did it do him – which cretin devised this scoring system?)



Fev tonked Swinton. No surprises there. Two points for all the faithful – and two for Charlie as well.



BBQ? Bongser makes the desired total 355. That’s the last we’ll be seeing of the West Walians this season. Fair play, they fulfilled all their fixtures (usually on time) when they may well have thought “Turf this!” Will we see them next season? Turf that! Will we see Leigh next season?



A lucky 13 (?) points out was VANCOUVER LEYTHER leaving the rest of us trailing in the wake of his motorhome.
